I dunno, to me, classless is faking injuries when your team is in the playoff hunt. But that's just me.

I wasn't happy with Pitkanen missing so many games but to say that he was faking..I don't know. I will agree though that he is a mentally soft player and he probably missed games that he shouldn't have. That said, I'm still not happy with Moreaus response to the deal. He doesn't seem to be a guy who chooses his words carefully and that type of comment easily could have gotten on tsn and stirred something up. It's in the past though. I haven't been happy with Moreau but you are right he gave us a lot of good games.

He blamed Salo for the poor pk % that last year, basically took no responsibilty at all for the pkers using Salos poor play the last year as an excuse why they were bad. This after Salo had two very very good years for the oilers.

I don't usually comment on, or even read, Moreau threads because I think the bias and negative slant from some fans is totally ridiculous. The guy played his heart out for a long time here, gave a ton back to the community, and was a big part of this team. The hate for him on this board is illogical and silly.

And BTW, Pitkanen deserved what Moreau gave him. In fact, I'm sure Ethan held back. Pitkanen was a gutless, useless coward when he was here.
Excellent, so you have given us permission to call moreau out for being this teams wortst captain and being just awful most of the last two years. Shawn Horcoff is less physcial than Pitkanen was when he was here...oh wait he is one of moreaus buddies.

Basically it's Moreau being Moreau.

Really?? I guess that's why we only played him 26 minutes a game.

You could replace Salo with "Our young goalies" this year. Seems like the insults remain the same, only the names are interchangeable.

Why all the Moreau hate? It's frustrating. Now people are making up things to bash Moreau.

The Moreau thing has evolved to the point where everything he says will be pre-judged as self-serving and/or offensive.

Enough bashing of Moreau. He has been a good Oiler over his career and there is no need to go overboard on the fact that he's not a scoring type captain. All I know is that having personally met him that he and his wife are class acts. He is 34 and not the player he once was but still has class and integrity. He should be treated that way (with class) even on this whimsical and often cruel board. Obviously that's a lot to ask from all the people on this board who don't play in the NHL and hide behind their keyboard.

He was right though, Salo was pure junk at the end.

I don't think Salo ever blamed himself. I'm not sure but I believe Salo blamed his teammates. Didn't Ninimaa also once blame the goalies for losing? I'm not sure though.

Why Oilers try to mess up with team chemistry when they are winning again.

1. No superstar is going to sign with Oilers in the summer time.
2. A team full junior players mean disaster (doesn't matter if they are first overall or not)
3. Team chemistry takes time to build.

Unless they already have replacement for Moreau, why trade him?

Hall is not a checker. He doesn't have any NHL experience. Relying on rookies to win in NHL won't work.

he has done some great things for the community, and may be a nice guy off the ice, I don't think anyone will argue that.
but the argument here generally isnt' about how many goals he scores but that he himself hasn't always shown class.
but as he is the captain and is supposed to be a leader, it seems that he really hasn't led by example.
I used to be a big fan of his, now I'm sorry to say that I can't wait for him to be off the team.

and as to the argument about why get rid of him? I'd say this season is self evident there are a couple of vets that may need a change of scenery, and he's one of them. we can spend the money better elsewhere. or even give me rookie mistakes over lazy penalties and mistakes anytime.

Don't be so literal. Hall takes a higher role than Ethan and someone else drops down a spot. Who gives a **** where the Oilers wind up next year it's not like a playoff spot boils down to having Ethan there instead of Hall ffs.

Moreau is an idiot.

But if your gunna call moreau classless after the contributions hes made to charaties and the community... you may proceed to your bathroom mirror and call what you see classless as well.

I agree. Moreau isn't classless. He's just a stupid hockey player.
