Not necessarily, if Pelicans offered a bonus or additional salary for the clause, and Aaltonen was sure at the time that he didn't want to go to NA during the first year of his contract, then such a clause could easily exist. Such contracts have been done in the past. In some cases the player might regret it later, but than again Aaltonen has a mindset of a Slavic hockey artist, so you can expect the unexpected.

Removing the clause from the contract layout might not have any effect or it could be prohibited, but we can’t be sure about it with our knowledge… In the end PA’s might not have much authority to intervene, if the team and the player have made an agreement that is legit in the court of law.

Hadn't heard much about him. Is he good enough to play in the NHL?

I'd say NHL, despite what Pelicans GM said, his contract doesn't have to be bought out, the transfer agreement automatically places an NHL clause in all contracts.

Pelicans fires with big guns -> Zoltan Hetenyi and Henrik Blomqvist (try-out) signed. Lolsome! But in all honesty, this Hetenyi guy seems to have great potential. Next big phenom from Hungary?

It was confirmed yesterday that Juhamatti Aaltonen is free to sign with any NHL club that wants him. The out-clause was not waved in any way in his contract with Pelicans.

Is this set in stone then? Thought after his play in the playoffs there might have been offers from North America? Or is he content playing in Finland?

It's set in stone. I personally don't think he'd be very useful in NA and the NHL. He just doesn't seem to be a small rink player.

I agree, can't ever see him in NHL. Though, isn't Jokerit's rink nhl size?

Yeah the first plan was to stay with 26m (after the NHL games) but they decided to put it 28m cause of the other activities in the arena. So it was 30m-->26m-->28m. If I remember it right.

Jarmo Kekäläinen is the new GM of Jokerit (hockey operations: development of the club, player and coach signings) with 5 year contract.

Looks like you are missing Joni Ortio (G, back-up), Mikko Laine (F, W)) and Marko Virtala (F, C) from TPS roster.
Bergman and Tapio are Try-outs.

What I'm wondering is what are we going to do with seven d-men who all require playing time. We can't send Vittasmäki back to Mestis as he has shown he can play in the League and Berg seems to be healing well. It's nice to have depth, but

Russia or Pelicans. Minimal chance that he will play NHL.

That's what lots of Jokerit fans were wondering about Tim Stapleton few years ago... so just saying don't judge too soon
