Every game in the regular season determines the fate of a team though.

I have no problem with this game going to a shootout. In fact, I want to see it. You can't get the job done in 82 games... Thems the breaks.

The rangers have 38 wins, 39 if they win today which ties us. 2nd tie breaker is goals for. So yes we play the caps either way.

right, but wouldn't it be unfair to the other teams who had clinched before but who's standing were subject to change (i.e. you clinched before so didn't get the chance to avoid a SO yourself, but got screwed by another team not being able to help you with their SO advantage)

Pretty sure they are confident with going with Leighton (who played AMAZING for them and is they only reason they are close to the playoffs, IMO) and Emery for next year.

How many times does this need to be stated? If the Rangers win, we play NJ/BUFF, if Philly wins we play Washington.

Its not that difficult.

ya, otherwise we would have absolutely needed that point, instead of there still having been a possibility of playoffs even if we had lost.

Second tie-breaker is head to head, which we win.

Rags want this to go to a shoot-out. I have never seen such a conservatively played OT by a team ever.

Gaborik just got their first chance.

Emery might not play again and if they rely on a journeyman on a hot streak, they deserve the inevitable disappointing season that follows. This kind of stupidity is why the Flyers have never managed to accomplish anything.

So how do Flyers fans actually "boo" Boucher? lol

Dangerous move by Pronger in front of the net. Lucky.

Shootout? Wow, this has to be the biggest game in NHL history decided by a shootout.

If Prospal were to score the winner he may implode. Every time he scores it's like the cup clinching goal. Imagine if he scored one that meant something

Wrong 2nd tie breaker is Season series , we can still finish 7th if rangers win.
* The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
* The greater number of games won.
* The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
* The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.
