The best matchup for the Wings IMO.

I'm so happy that I don't have words for it. The travel sucks, but this is best case scenario.

Plus, if the Yotes end up moving, this will be a repeat of the end of the Jets.

Personally, I would have taken Chicago since the Wings play their best hockey against top opponents and the travel would have helped, I also know the Yotes are probably the most desirable matchup, but I would be careful what you ask for, they're a dark horse.

Not the matchup I wanted, both because I like the coyotes and because I'm afraid of Bryzgalov when he gets hot. When do the playoffs actually start? I've been looking for the schedule and can't find it.

I agree.

While Phoenix was probably the best choice out of San Jose, Chicago, Vancouver and Phoenix, they are still a good team and shouldn't be underestimated. They did have 50 wins this season (and 107 points).

The schedule comes out when all of the matchups are determined.

This may be the best series in the 1st round, lots of storylines. Good luck, lets hope no one gets hurt and may the best team win. ( not that I would expect we would agree which team that is )

Game stealing goaltender + stifling defense + underdog = upset threat.

I wish we could just play teams from the eastern conference.

Outside of Chicago, it's the best matchup for travel. That's for certain.

I think it will be a good matchup but I like Detroit in 6.

However, if it goes to a game seven, I might lean on Phoenix.

I never ask for a playoff opponent because well we have fallen victim to too many teams in the playoffs that weren't rated very highly. The Coyotes are better for us than Vancouver only in that you don't have to go through customs to get there, they're one time zone closer and there ought to be a better Wings fan presence at the games there I imagine.

I am glad we got 5th seed though, that's roughly where I predicted we'd end up back in the fall.

Should be a fun series guys. Dont under estimate us though. The coyotes are a good team and shouldnt be taken for granted. Should be a long series.

Wings in 6. I'm also rather excited to see if Howard is up to the test. Can't wait...

I'm so glad we didn't have to play Nucks in round 1. (Though Luongo is maybe just as bad as Thornton in playoffs)

Glad the red wings made it, hopefully we can have similiar experience we had against Columbus last year.

Going on a month long vaction in Thailand so Red Wings better be still in the playoffs when I get back.

Today has been great! Inexperienced playoff yotes, friendly arena for RW fans, etc.

And chicago plays the 2nd hardest team to play in the playoffs.

I keep hearing this alot from RW fans. Although I can't think of a reasonable explanation why. Is it because some expert during an intermission game a month ago said detroit would beat anybody but the canucks? They wouldn't have scared me at all.

GOD, I am so pumped for some playoff hockey!!!!!! Anybody know when the playoff schedule is released?

This is the 1st year I can remember not caring who we played in the 1st round. I'm so glad we overcame all the things we've dealt with this year, and am pumped to see how we start on the road

I'm scared of the Sedin's this season.

The thing about the Coyotes is that they're an unknown quantity. That makes me nervous. I pretty much know what we'd get with any of the other teams... well, expect for LA, they're unknowns too.

They won't have any pressure on them and can just play their hardest.
