Torts: "I'd like to get younger"

Per zipay's twitter

"Torts; Id like to get younger"

Is he begininng to imply that this is the end of the line for Redden?

He had just about as young a team as one could have last season.

Just sounds like more excuses and lip service from Torts.

Younger in what context? The blue line was young this year and it showed.

I think we're stuck with Wendy for at least another year or two.

That's why I'm thinking it's him implying that Redden's time is up. I also think he might be sending a message to Glen that he'd rather but in a prospect rather than prospal for next year. With how young our team is this makes me wonder what the underlying message is behind this comment really is.

Probably means One of Redden/Rozsival, Jokinen and possibly Prospal will be gone in favor of younger players.

How much younger? They were one of the youngest teams in the league. I believe they ranked 7th at the beginning of the year.

Does he want all teenagers?

#NYRangers coach John Tortorella wants to get younger, "weed out" some players from the dressing room. Says room was not strong enough.

On a side note as we all know torts really doesn't give 2 ***** about what he says. One of his comments today was, "gabby stunk in that game". Maybe it's the truth but you really have to watch what you're saying about your players, the last thing you want is a split locker room.

Prospal 35
Brashear 35
Shelley 35
Redden 32 (plays like 40)
Roszival 32

Clearly that's what he's talking about.

Official NY Rangers thenyrangers

Torts laments #NYR inconsistency this season: "that's my responsibility, that's on me...there are mistakes I made...things I must do better"

Is this the first time he blamed himself this year?

So you`re saying you want Sather to trade for Seguin at all costs and have him play on the first line?

Why thank you John for bringing that by team management. I look forward to seeing this done with a 100% guarantee. You are so thoughtful to the fanbase John.

What other part of the team needs to get younger? The defense already has a lot of youth. The forwards? Where do you see us getting younger? Prospals LW spot? I really don't know what he means unless like BRB said its lip service.

I think he's making a pitch to get rid of Redden, it was clear down the stretch how bad redden was and torts showed it by his ice time as well. I think torts is fine with Rosi he had him with Staal alot showing that he has confidence in him playing top pair. Shelley I think torts is mehhhh about, he could care less if he were back or not doesn't mind either way. But the interesting comment was he said the room wasn't strong enough and as we've heard shelley is a great "room" guy so maybe that could be saying that yeah I don't want Redden but shelley he's good in the room I'll take him.

Clearly you cant have an entire team in their 20's.

Clearly, hes talking for the sake of talking...again.

#NYRangers won't allow GM Glen Sather or assistant GM Jim Schoenfeld to address the media today.

What a joke.

Seems like Wade will be back, guy has a lot to prove, haha.

#NYRangers Wade Redden knows he has a lot to prove to brass. Not happy with his season

Clearly he thinks Hank's over the hill at 28.

Seriously, hopefully he's talking about Redden. Bury him, please.

Wow. What? No, he's talking about Redden. Clearly. Crystal clearly. You're just missing it. Read between the lines.

Redden's ice time was really low the last 1/4 of the season.

You expected him to say something, since clearly changes need to be made. Not as if we'd expect him to say "Not enough talent." At least he finally blamed himself for something.

Still, like many of said; Get younger where? McD or Sangs in place of Redden and/or Rozsival? You're committing to a rebuilding year if you do that since there's no way a D corps of Staal/Girardi/MDZ/Gilroy/Sangs/McD is going to prevent Hank from getting shelled every night.

Interesting I would think he is talking about Redden and Jokinen.

I don't think that's a given. Sign Staal, Girardi, and Volchenkov.

Also, isn't Erikkson like 35 too?

If the forward can control the play more in the offensive zone than they wont be pressured as much. I dont see Jokinen, Prospal or Redden back next season.
