For those in love with Kovalchuk, just an FYI that a lot of analysts/reporters on Twitter are saying the Arnott deal pretty much confirms Jersey won't have the cap room to re-sign Kovalchuk and get what they need to get done in either re-signing martin/replace him.

So Kovalchuk, as expected already, is more likely to hit the FA market now than before.

flyers are all big and tough something the rangers defense doesnt have and same can be said for the forwards. they have some size but the rangers defense is sooooooooft.

I would really love to add Spezza to this team. I wonder what it would take.

Too much to be worth it. Sens probably won't want to take much salary back (They didn't want Rosy last year in the negociations for Heatley). So the Rangers probably wouldn't have the cap space to make the trade and fill in the replacement players that are part of the package going back to Ottawa.

if the sens would take girardi that can be a starting point. i doubt they would want gilroy. id keep sanguinetti to replace gilroy next year.

I must say that line looks really really good. Put that with our top line and that is a solid top 6.

Dubinsky - Christensen - Gaborik
Kovalchuk - Anisimov - Tarnasko
Callahan - Drury - MZA
Prust - Boyle - Shelley

That is a solid, solid, team.

May be in a year or two. Tarasenko has one more year left in his KHL contract and I think it was reported that he said he would fulfill that last year. Also Callahan and MZA have to swap spots as Cally is a RW. MZA can play both sides.

think they might be interested in a stepan, 10th overall, rozy package?

Again, they would not take Rosy last off season when they were negociating a trade for Heatley. They won't take him now, either.

I would not do that trade for Spezza, to me I think we are giving up too much. Stepan is one of our best prospects and whomever we draft could be a good player for a long time for us, I wouldn't do that trade. Also who would take all of Rozy's minutes? that would be too young of a d-corps.

they wouldnt take him last year because the offer was rozy and zherdev.

they also have to replace volchenkov's minutes this year.

last year roszival's actual salary was also about 2 mil more than it will be.

don't be so dense.

it is definitely a lot, but too much? i don't know. Spezza is a legit #1 center, his cap hit is reasonable for what he is and he's very young.

I hear you as far as who is gonna eat rozy's minutes though.

They wanted Dubinsky + McD + for Heatley. Rangers offered Roszival and Zherdev. Hense they did not want Roszival. If they want another $5 million CAP HIT on the backline, they would just re-sign the younger, better Volchenkov to that same cap hit.

Propose that on the main board. You will get laughed at. To us Rangers fans, it seems like too much because we are in love with our own prospects. To Sens fans it's an unproven prospect, a d-man they didn't want last year, and a 1st round pick.

if anything, it seems like not enough from our perspective, but laughable? i don't know. rozy is a legit #2, he can handle 22 minutes a night easy.

the #10 pick is not a joke.

stepan captained the gold medal wjc winners...he may not be a blue chipper but hes certainly a b plus prospect.

i think its a decent proposal.

i think i will post it on the main board.

It still gives them nothing that proven or that solid, which they can probably get in return elsewhere.

And can Rozy really handle 22 minutes a night? Everytime he gets significant playing time his knee gets hurt again. On top of the fact that Roszival is a 4th defenseman on a cup contending team.

There is a "rumor" on the main board of Ottawa trading Spezza, Lee, and the rights of Campoli for Kukilov, Frolik, and the 3rd overall.

Guy didn't provide a source though, so who knows how reliable it is. If it is true, though, that package blows the Stepan, Rosy, and the 10th overall out of the water. I doubt it's true. That's way too much for Spezza.

sorry, your blueline does not have me sold. you also forgot to say this is contingent on burying Redden but I guess one could figure that out. You'd have to magically replace Rozi w/ Volchenkov to get me warmed up and that's asking a lot.

That defense is at least equal to our defense last year. That defense earned us a top-10 GAA.

equal if not better

staal-girardi (more progress = better this year). 09-10 staal girardi
mdz rozi (rozi is solid as always, another year for mdz=better) 09-10 rozi mdz
foster sangs (pretty good bottom pair, both offensive minded though) 09-10 redden-erikson/gilroy
got to assume foster and sangs can do at least an equal job to what redden-erikson did

And we will have that same goalie.

Our defense (which Lundqvist will be a part of) isn't broken... our offense is.
