How close were your projections at the start of the season?

I can almost guarantee there was thread made between April and October. I did a search but the results stop at December 2009. If someone could find that thread this could be pretty interesting.

Here are the Oilers opening line up's stats plus what they would have had over 82 games since that's probably the number of games most people based their projections on.

L. Smid: 1 goal and 9 points(2 goals/15 points)
S. Horcoff: 13 goals and 36 points(14 goals/38 points)
A. Cogliano: 10 goals and 28 points
L. Visnovsky: 15 goals and 45 points(17 goals/51 points)
E. Moreau: 9 goals and 18 points(10 goals/19 points)
P. O'Sullivan: 11 goals and 34 points(12 goals/38 points)
J. Jacques: 4 goals and 11 points(7 goals/18 points)
D. Penner: 32 goals and 63 points
S. Staios: 1 goal and 10 points(1 goal/14 points)
R. Stone: 0 goals and 6 points(0 goals/18 points)
D. Grebeshkov: 7 goals and 21 points(11 goals/32 points)
S. Souray: 4 goals and 13 points(9 goals/29 points)
Z. Stortini: 4 goals and 13 points(4 goals/14 points)
G. Brule: 17 goals and 37 points(22 goals/47 points)
T. Gilbert: 5 goals and 31 points
A. Hemsky: 7 goals and 22 points(26 goals/82 points)
S. Gagner: 15 goals and 41 points(18 goals/50 points)
M. Comrie: 13 goals and 21 points(25 goals/40 points)

Other Notable Players...
R. Potulny: 15 goals and 32 points(19 goals/41 points)
M. Pouliot: 7 goals and 14 points(16 goals/33 points)
F. Pisani: 4 goals and 8 points(8 goals/16 points)
J. Strudwick: 0 goals and 6 points(0 goals/7 points)
T. Chorney: 0 goals and 3 points(0 goals/6 points)

All I know is that I was on board the Patrick O'Sullivan train and I didn't realize that it was an Amtrak subsidiary.

I did, however, win my Avatar bet with I Am The Liquor in stating that Penner would outscore Smyth this season. However, Smyth was derailed by injuries and I think it was pretty clear that it would have been a lot tighter if that didn't happen, so I'm happy to call it a wash.

The only one I could concretely find in my post history (in an admittedly brief search) was this:

That I can live with I'm sure I was way off on a lot of other things... if I had some more time right now I'd go through

I thought the Oilers would be 6th in the Western Conference.

I thought we'd be in our usual fight for 8th.
I do remember thinking that POS would get at least 20-25 goals.
I also thought Khabibulin was going to have a strong year for us.
there is no way I thought our defense would play so poorly.

I didn't predict it, but I'm sure there are those of you that thought we'd be on our usual injury train and then try and figure out what the heck is happening for us to ever year have so many injuries.

I was delusional enough to believe that we'd stay out of injury trouble and at least contend for a playoff spot.

I remember having a conversation with my father about how I was optimistic that a few players would have break out seasons (Cogs, Sully, Penner) and that the team would be competitive.

1/3 with the Penner "prediction"?

I predicted before the season started we were screwed if the Bullin Wall got hurt. Its hard to say how correct I was since we had so many other injuries, but I stand by that it was the main reason we were the worst team in the league.

I thought we'd be a 6th to 8th place team. Maybe if it was a tight race, squeak into 5th. Injuries are a biotch.

Biggest surprises: Penner (good); POS (bad); Gilbert's revitalization (good); team defence (bad); Smid (good); team toughness (bad)

In the end, at least we lost big enough to gain a top 2 pick. Coming in 18th-20th in the league just sucks. I'm ready for a do-over.
