Funny stuff from tonight's CBC broadcast

- Don Cherry calling a Leafs player (forget who, probably An-drop-off) a chicken for not wanting the puck.

- Cherry showing Roenick sitting on the bench singing along to a Run DMC song playing in the arena.

- When picking who will score in OT, Cherry refused to pick someone from the Flyers.

- Referring to the Brian Burke firing in Vancouver, Cherry said the reason was because a couple of senior guys above him didn't like him. Sound familar?

- Harry Neale using the term half-assed backhander in the OT.

:lol

I didn't watch much of the game aside from ot, the funny thing about Neale's "half assed" comment was how you could tell in his voice that he was thinking "oops shouldn't have said that." The gems that the whole CBC crew is coming up with in this years playoffs are pure gold.

"game defining season," awh the memories.

At least he didn't say "ballbreaker."

I don't know how long this has been going on, but Neale has quite the temper

During the Sens series, game 6 OT win for the Sens, "I'll tell you who scored as soon as they get the Hell off him."

Game 5 in the Philly series, he called someone crap I believe and now this

He called Pilar a chicken for not going for the puck in the corner because he would have been hit and he was right. Philly scored on the ensuing confusion. If Pilar had gotten the puck, they wouldn't have gotten a 2-0 lead.

Greatest thing I ever heard on HNIC was when Healy meant to say "puck" and "faceoff"... and said the "f" word.

It was great.

Neale is the funniest homer, next to Cherry. They will be missed when Montreal takes over HNIC again for the next decade or so.

The whole crew from Ron and Don to Bob and Harry were talking like someone had died after the overtime. Bob Cole sure wasn't a happy camper.

I love it!

That was the best thing I'd ever seen on HNIC. I'd always wondered how the players could sit there between plays, uninfluenced by the music. Wouldn't AC/DC pump most players up, while Céline Dion and Shania Twain might demoralize most players?

I have a newfound appreciation for Jeremy Roenick.

Celine Dion yes, but I would think visual images of Shania might actually be a distraction. You might see guys adjusting themselves as come on the ice...well...you know what I mean.

"half-assed"?

Whats wrong with that? Now a days that is a Sesame Street word. Watch tv in primetime for 1 hour and you will hear a lot worse than "half assed".
I don't know, maybe its a product of my Newfoundland upbringing, but swearing is bred into us. By the way nobody here says "Lard Thunderin' Gesus, by!", unless their telling a joke

"Lard Thunderin' Gesus, by"?

BTW, half-cocked is perfectly acceptable, why would half-assed be wrong? Would "fully-assed" be better or worse?

There's nothing really wrong with "half-assed" (note how it's not censored here ) and we hear **** on cbcnewsworld all the time. The difference is you don't normally expect it from Harry Neale, I guess. At least, that's what grabbed me. I think he probably would have liked to say 'half-hearted' or something. Half-assed is probably more "tsn" than HNIC.

Anybody else find it funny that Harry Neale is the only commentator who says "Look out!" anytime someone looks like they're going to get a chance?

ThINK OF THE CHILDREN, Harry!!!!
lol and one time Ron said "crap"... not a bad word but it sounded weird comming from him, Don seems to be a bad influence on him

Best part of HNIC last night:

- Ron's pun at the end "Don is right, that's a wrap" when Don was talking about the rap music Roenick was singing to.

- Don finally wearing a half decent suit with that calgary light up pin.

- Seeing one of Don's fav. teams get knocked out of playoffs

That was pretty funny. I started "singing" along when I saw that! Ah Raising Hell... where are you and my Rap Traxx tapes now?! You gotta feel good about your chances when guys are that loose on your bench in the playoffs.
