First and foremost forwards score, and defenseman defend. When you have that then you can compliment your team with the Green's and Datsyuk's of hockey.
Datsyuk is a complimentary player?!

We could have won it with a 2.1% chance...but they couldn't have moved up any higher than 4 spots...

Well you know that the Blue Jackets and the Islanders are going to take take one of the big three D-men in either Fowler, Gormley, or Guderson (or however it's spelt).

I dont get it..

say if we won the lottery, and got 6th pick. how would it go, because who ever gets first overall is the lottery winner, so how does the 10 overall pick go down?

Yeah, he has feminine features... and the fact that his name is Taylor doesn't help.

Whoever got their ball picked was the lottery winner. The lottery winner gets to move up 4 places. If the Rangers won the lottery, we would move up to 6th, and everyone from 6-14 would drop down one spot.

This is exactly why I was confused. Instead of saying "the winner of the lottery is xxx" they just say the #1 pick. Even if the Rangers had won the lottery they would have picked 6th, so that top 5 wouldn't changed. Seems like it is poorly done.

Oh and I love how they don't even have footage of Derek Forbort. Awesome coverage.

How come every mock draft on NHL.com has the Rangers at 8th?

I think all of the mocks were done a while ago when the Rangers were 22nd in the standings.

So, just to be clear, this means that Edmonton "won" the lottery, right? Their pingpong ball came up so... the first round slots are allocated exactly as the standings say they should be? No one moved at all?

Yawn. The NBA lottery is so much more interesting.

What are the odds of a difference maker being available at 10? This franchise needs one in the worst way.

After the lockout since there were no standings to go off of they created a system where your odds were based on number of times missing the playoffs the previous 3 seasons. The Rangers were one of i believe 6 teams (pens included) that had missed all 3 years. We drew the 15th pick, traded up to 12 to take Staal.

The NBA lottery isnt much different.

NHL - 1 team moves up and everyone else is slotted accordingly based on the original order
NBA - 3 teams move up to the top 3 slots and everyone else is slotted accordingly based on the original order

the major difference is that NHL puts a limit of 4 spots that you can move up. NBA you can be in 14th position and end up with the first pick.

every since this nhl system was instituted I thought it was really dumb. On top of this there is just no way to make it TV friendly.
