I hope they do a multiplayer beta instead of replicating the mistakes of GoW 2 and CoD: MW2.

That's funny, the first time I saw the original Gears trailer I knew gaming as I love it is dead. Pretty odd to be a dinosaur at 24 years old.

QFT.

Its better to have a smoothly running and balanced multiplayer then to "spoil" the game by showing gameplay early.

4 player co-op campaign would be nice too, but I can live without one though. Barely.

Not that it was necessarily my impression as well as I never paid attention to Gears of War, but it's kind of a split in the gaming crowd. It's usually from the older crowd but there are those of us that can look at say... Kirby:

Look past the silly/cute art & design and appreciate the inherent fun in the game where as the other side, usually male teenagers and young adults right it off as kiddy. On this side dark, gritty, violent, steroid injecting macho soldiers are seen as 'hardcore' and cool. Of which Gears of War is an obvious poster child for it.

Now there's a time & place for everything, but for big budget titles more and more of the bright colourful characters of old are being replaced by brown & grays colours to appeal to this specific demograph.

It takes the Xbox crowd and this mindset to take something fun like this:

And turn it into this atrocity:

i didn't find the trailer all that impressive, but i'm sure it'll be a good game.

What? Come on now, Gears of War was by far not the first game to include grit and violence. And nobody is saying that the games you were referring to are dead.

For the record, I'm a 20-year-old male. I own a PS3 and a 360, I won't lie that most of my games are FPS, but I still enjoy playing the old (and new) Nintendo games.

As for the trailer, it looks dope. Any idea when the release date is?

Wow, what an exaggeration. The x360 crowd didn't even like that game.

Besides its about gameplay more than anything. And Gears has wicked gameplay.

Further WTF do you even mean by x360 crowd?

I own an x360 and a Wii, like Kirby games and Gears of War what crowd am i apart of?

Well it's pretty obvious online that a large section of the 360/PS3 crowd hates the Wii where as others still like both sides, I was referring to the former.

Also I know that no one liked that Bomberman, I was more referring to the design choice of the developers to take the bright and colourful bomberman and think it's a good idea to 'hardcore' it, as an over exagerated example of the trend the game industry is following. Remember that SniperHF said:

In regards to the original Gears of War, and I was just expanding on what I believe he was referring too. I like the full spectrum of genre's as well, but it's pretty obvious that one of them has been increasingly taking over the game industry this past decade.

There's no doubt that "grit" and hardcoriness have taken a huge percentage of the market, but the best makers of the "classic" style games (read: nintendo) are still doing it well.

Further, I don't think gears represents the best choice for a game banking on simply having a populist style with substance. It was pretty unique within that realm and fabulously made.

Just when you thought Gears of War couldn't get any more grey.

Yeah, aren't Nintendo sales still destroying the market? I haven't checked in a while.

The future has no colour.

On the positive side, this series plays really well on black and white TVs.

Dunno about the market. All I know is that New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Mario Galaxy were badass.

Always liked Gears' trailers, they've had some of the best.
Still think the trailer for the second is best tho

Personally i dont give a **** what the trailer looks like. Im buying this game no matter what, i loved both gears of war games and im looking forward to the new one. I think the graphics have looked awesome on both and the new game wont be sure to disappoint. The only thing that matters to me is when this puppy comes out.

Im agreed about the multiplayer. The second game is tough because of the lag. it looked like id be shooting the enemies but no damage was being doled out. So freaking annoying.

GoW owes alot of its success because it was released at a time when there was absolutely no competition on console. How different it would be if COD4 came out the same season.

I absolutely loved and was amazing (the best ever) at the original Gears of War. I beat the campaign for the sequel in one sitting and really didn't like the multiplayer. It honestly had the shortest live-life I've ever seen amongst my friends.

Here is hoping for better things.
