Sundin deserves to win a cup. His almost hattrick night and his game tying goal in game 6 were huge efforts. He played with a lot of intensity as well.

Don' you hate how the Leafs always seem to get hurt against Ottawa? Berard, Sundin, Tucker, Renberg, Nolan, Perreault a few years ago.

Who was free-wielding their stick to Berard's eye?...Hossa? Bonk?

I laugh at people who say Sundin is not a warrior. I could not believe all the people who shined and complained when Sundin got hurt. All I heard from people was he has no heart and should learn to play hurt .

Kudos to Mats, and this is coming from a Hab's fan. I tore my groin in February and I was done for 6 weeks. It's a strange injury. After a short time you can walk and even run, but believe me, skating is EXTREMELY painful. My hat goes off to him, and I'll never question his courage.

I heard that Joe had back problems in the Ottawa series, but the games he missed during the Philly series were because of a groin problem.

Makes sense because when Hitchcock was talking about his spies he said something like "We know what's really wrong with Nieuwendyk."

Wow what a true warrior. Yeah I also hate when people criticize Sundin, he wouldnt be playing if it were the regular season and playing thru injuries definitely hurt.

They both had torn groins, according to today's Toronto Star

Mats Sundin and Joe Nieuwendyk also revealed they were both suffering from damaged groin muscles that had torn off their respective pelvic bones.

Speculation due to the team's traditional post-season secrecy had Sundin suffering from a variety of injuries. It was believed he originally injured his ankle, then his knee, and finally, tore muscles in his quadriceps.

Nieuwendyk was similarly misdiagnosed. He was believed to be suffering from recurring back spasms, but he said that problem corrected itself in the first round against Ottawa.

"I missed that game against Ottawa and that was the only episode I had with the back," said Nieuwendyk, who is part of a group of four veterans Gary Roberts, Eddie Belfour, and Ken Klee the Leafs will likely return for next season.

"The three games (he missed) against Philadelphia wasn't my back. I had a groin muscle tear. So you can diffuse those back rumours right now."
