I like both of these choices!

Yes, that was pretty interesting and sad....

On that note....I still think Oren and Len will go with El Nino.....

"In a perfect world it would be nice to have (a general manager) in place, but we are in the situation we are in," Hammett said. "But we all have experience in different departments, and in the scouting department we feel that it is business as usual. The thing that we need to do is keep going forward and supply the information to whomever is going to be there and ensure they have the resources and that we can bring them up to speed as soon as possible on the draft.

"We have to be prepared to make sure whomever comes in is prepared."

The Lightning's amateur scouts were in town over the weekend to hold meetings finalizing the team's draft list in preparation for the league's combine this month and the draft June 25-26 in Los Angeles. Most of the work for draft was done throughout the season and Hammett said "95 percent" of the team's current draft list will be the same one the team works off of at the draft table inside Staples Center.
Quote:
"Obviously a new GM would guide us (on positional need vs. best-player available) but for us, it's about taking the best player. We want a difference-maker whether that's on the blue line, in goal or from a forward. For us, it doesn't really matter," Plandowski said.

"We have six guys that we like (at the top of the list) and we'll end up with one of them. That's the nice part about picking sixth."
and here is a video from the Lightning's website with the Lightning scouting department

I want Brandon Gormley.....we need badly a D that can move the puck well and can skate....Foster is too slow. He's from the same town as Brad Richards in P.E.I

So do I. Our defense does need to be shined up. We did well the past couple of drafts getting forwards. I think right now solidifying that D-core right now would be the best thing for this team long term. Till a defensemen comes out and proves hes a Franchise Dman you been looking for. Whether it is Hedman, Wishart or even Barberio. You keep swinging. We need that D-man back there. And though Hedman has the potential he is not there yet. Would like to draft him and give him a few years to progress without rushing the kid and then bring him along. Imagine if both those guys pan out.

Hedman-Gormley
Lundin-Wishart
Ranger-Smaby/Mihalik/xxx

anybody against trading down if we want a d-man

1)hall
2)Seguin
3)Fowler
4)gudbranson
5)gormly

we are left with no good d-men until 9,10,11

maybe move down to get Forbort if we "need" a d-man

I think we either draft Nino at 6, trade up with CLB(TB:4th overall-CLB:Mez+6th overall) and draft Gudbranson, or trade down to NYR(TB:10th overall+2nd round+4th round-NYR: 6th overall) to draft Dereck Forbort

If we want a Dman, I wouldn't trade down, mainly because I'm not really high on the 1st round Dmen after Gormley, Gudbranson, and Fowler, but that's just my opinion. If the draft went like how you have it above, then I would stick with Nino and wait. I really like the defensemen in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, so we could grab someone then.

I do have a strange feeling one of those 3 defensemen will fall to us.

No I think I'm the biggest one for drafting a D-man with the 6th pick. But if all the big guns are nabbed up by then, then you daft the BPA which is El Nino and you address the D later on in the draft.

Ideally we get our hands on a second rounder and try to salvage some talent there.

Would you guys consider, Raymond, Bieksa, 10' 1st for your 10' 1st & Mez?

Could land Merrill or McIllrath at the 25th spot so its basically swap firsts plus you get a young LW speedy 20++ goal scorer, Bieksa/Mez is pretty much = albeit we take on a smidgen more salary and term.

It was believed Gillis tried to get the 2nd overall last year from you guys but obviously Hedman was a no brainer to keep, however this year is a tad different.

Can you accept that offer?

Where do I sign? If Vinik hired me, this would be done, yesterday.

More and more I think about it, it seems Brandon Gormley is going to end up here.

At 6 I think I'd rather take Brett Conolly over Nino. I see him as more of a finisher than Nino. Just personal preference.

We were all chatting on BP about Skinner. Strange skater, but one hell of a sniper.

I live up in Prince George and get to see connolly play............when he does. Who ever drafts this kid will be extremely happy. His hockey IQ is through the roof and he has great skill. The obvious knock on him is health however from what I hear the hip injury is not as bad as first said and there is the chance that he was kept out of the line up due to the horrendous coaching/managemnet staff that we have. I have seen Nino and Brett play and I would take Brett hands down. My two cents

the more i think about it the more i want to take Connolly at 6 (if we dont trade)

I have heard many great things about him lately and seems like the type of guy that if u by pass him in the draft u will be sorry, very determined guy with a crazy amount of skill

Also the down side to Nino is that he could become Andrew Ladd, and i just dont know if i could handle that at this point

Who do you want Tampa Bay to draft?

My top three picks for Tampa Bay to pick, since I am a true fan,

1. Nino Niederreiter - Probably would work the best with Steven Stamkos since he has all you can ask for in a forward, Speed, Passing, Shooting and Hitting.

2. Brandon Gormley - Probably the best D they could possibly get in the draft other than Mark Pysyk

3. Ryan Johansen - Put up good numbers with that size and strength in a rookie season, should have a great Career wherever he goes

I would've said Hall or Fowler but were least likely to get them

(Just thought I'd throw this in there)
All I ask for Steve Yzerman is...

Nino Niederreiter
Trade for Halak
Trade for Mueller
