UNDís 21 WCHA playoff wins in Dave Hakstol's first six years are six more than any other team has won during that period.

The better team won last nite and that other team was AA.

I still expect them to win the next 2 but if they don't

Now the Sioux on the otherhand know how to take care of an inferior team. Yet another ass kicking last nite.

Well, Tech barely has a program anymore, and the Sioux likely won't be the Sioux come August, so enjoy it while you can.

I try to lay off uscho, but I'm still surprised some Tech fans want to keep Russell around. Nice guy for sure, but the win totals have regressed 4 years in a row, although the program is hopeless, so I'm not sure anyone can win in Houghton.

Aaron Dell is now UND's all-time leader in career GAA (1.86). Played in his 40th career game last night to qualify for UND career records. Who would of ever guessed that at the beginning of the year. I sure didn't but I love it.

New Name?

If this has been covered, then my apologies for not reading all 400 posts before this one! Just wondering where the school is at as far as a renaming? Have they got a new one picked out? Will there be some kind of vote? I would hope they would give the 'Fighting Saints' or 'North Stars' a long look. Both would go nicely with the UND school name and give a nod to Minnesota's hockey history.

Thanks for any replies!

Nothing so far and the fight to keep the name is still going on.Both the House and Senate voted to keep the name. Now who knows where it goes from here.

Good thing the Sioux made it to the final 5 or the X would be completely empty. I am sure Bemidji and Duluth fans will be there but it will be Sioux fans that will outnumber the rest of the teams fans combined.

A few tidbits from this year:

The Sioux had a .700 first-half winning percentage this year and STILL managed to get better in the second half (.816) yet again.

Senior production: UND's senior class has a nation's best 185 points, 55 more than any other senior class in the WCHA.

UND now boasts a post-Xmas winning pct. of .702 in Hakstol's seven years, compared to .584 prior to Xmas.

Watching local news just now and Kristo has been cleared to play and is practicing with the team. According to Hakstol there is no timeline for him to get back in the lineup. I thought for sure I would never see him in a Sioux jersey again but what the hell do I know?

Looking forward to it. Still say the Sioux win it by a 4-2 score.

May I suggest the Mildly Aggressive Native North Americans? Let go MANNAs!

In Wisconsin, the idiots in the Department of Public Instruction in Madison (in the news recently) have been threatening state funding of high schools with Indian mascots. One of them was the "Warriors" who have a knight in armor as their mascot and not an Indian. What a waste of the taxpayers money! They should threaten high schools with grad rates of 50% or below. The Mukwonago Indians wanted to keep their name. The school parents and alumni wanted to fight it out in court. A new state law says that if one person in the school district complains, the mascot has to be changed. There have been some phonies that have come forward, they didn't live in the district, one guy was a trouble maker whose neighbors wanted him to move out before he started this stuff, another guy was allegedly paid under the table to file etc...

From wikipedia:
During the 2009-2010 school year, a Mukwonago High School senior filed a complaint to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction claiming that the Indians mascot and logo were racially discriminative against Native Americans. The school fought the accusations, but on October 8, 2010, the Department decided to strip the school of the nickname and logo. They called the mascot "unambiguously race-based." [1]

I was told he could of played last nite if needed. This Sioux team is so deep that I'm sure they thought better to sit him and have him ready for the national tourney in 2 weeks. Then again he could play tonite.Haven't heard yet.
