Well losing Miller to the OHL isn't as bad as THIS.
Dakota, you been following this saga for quite awhile now. What's your throughts on this, especially with all of the new(?) developments coming out of this mess?
I saw the article this morning and I see where the Spirit Lake Tribe is coming from on the issue. I am all for keeping the name, but still think that it will be gone at some point. I don't see the issue dragging out past this year though.
In all honesty the NCAA is a flawed organization with it's priorities mixed up. They have made it a priority to make UND a PC example to someone, while the big name colleges have almost constant scandals going on.

The NCAA does have some history of punishing the little schools and ignoring worse or repeated violations by well known schools.

Good luck to the Spirit Lake Tribe and UND!
I have been told by a friend of mine who is in touch with some big folks that are associated with the Spirit Lake tribe that something big is going to happen. What that is I don't know.
I am a season ticket holder to the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.......fans will definately like the way Michael Parks plays. He plays two way hockey but shows some flash. He is great on the penalty kill and works extremely hard! As a Badger fan it is tough to see him in a Sioux sweater but wish him nothing but the best of luck.

And that's only PART of the problem....where hockey is concerned. One example here is HOW rules are applied. The NCAA tends to "broadly" apply their rules to ALL sports without taking into consideration some of the unique problems associated with each sport. One example here is recruiting. You don't see the NCAA battling rival developmental leagues for the top players in sports such as football and basketball like you do in hockey. Yet in this case, the NCAA feels that what works for those sports should work for hockey, when it doesn't.
Granted some rules are and should be applied to all sports, such as the academic/graduating rates of all the student-athletes.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good 4 year player. Interesting to see where he will fit in with the team with so many new guys this year. I have a feeling we are going to see a different lineup for the first 2 months or so.
15 days and I'm at the Ralph watching the Fighting Sioux take on Regina in some exibition hockey. Love this game as everyone gets to play. Looking forward to aseeing this years freshman class especially that Grimaldi kid.

Looks like another pretty deep class for Les Giouxns...talk about reloading. they should be in the thick of it againt his year, a little younger, but pretty solid. A FF appearance or going down fighting tooth and nail in the second round is about what I expect.

Maybe this will be the year they can win it all since it's not really expected like it was last year.
Evan Trupp has signed a deal to play for the Cincinatti Cyclones of the ECHL. Every member of last season's senior class will be playing professionally this upcoming season.
Do you think they cheered louder for the annoncement of the game or the fact they're able to serve brewskis?
That would be a tie. Toured Target Field about a month ago before a game. Our guide took us to one of the keg rooms where the kegs are stored. He said on average they go through 200-250 kegs a game but when the Brewers are in town it goes to 450-500 kegs a game. You sconnies are lushes.

I'd heard that about us, must be true It'd be much higher if it weren't for all the tail gate beer consumed before the game. No self respecting Cheesehead would enter a sporting event with less than a sixer running through the kidneys already.
Was at the game last night and what a blowout by the Sioux.8-1 over Regina. Dominating performance by the Sioux as it should of been. Of the freshman I liked Matson and Pattyn the most. Pattyn is physical and I think he may be the next Prpich on the team but we shall see. I do however like the entire freshman class as none of them looked out of place. The line of Kristo,Nelson, and Knight looked pretty dang good and it will be interesting to see if they stick together. Nelson looks thicker and alot more stronger on his skates. He should have 20 goals by years end. Air Force is next up for the Sioux as they are hosting the Icebreaker tourney. BC and Michigan State start it off. Going to be a fun 4 games next weekend and of course I will be there.

I liked all the freshies. I can't pick which ones I liked most! It'll be interesting to see where Rocco fits in when he comes back. I'm figuring he'll take Mario's spot on the 2nd line, but I'm not sure how an all-freshman 2nd line would go, and I'm not sure they'd want Mario on the wing. I hope they keep the top line together at least for the icebreaker though - they looked awesome!
I kept reading all last year about how nick mattson had leveled out after being such a high prospect when he was at the ntdp, and falling to a low round draft pick. (of course, this was from gopher fans). i'm not sure how a ushl d-man of the year's play could have "leveled" off. He looked pretty damn good to me!
