I can't beleive they've had the pick for an hour and you're (and I'm sure a thousand others will too between now and the draft) already trying to trade for it. I think with a talent like Ovechkin it's a lock that the pick is totally untradeable....especially for anything Buffalo can offer.

I'm still in an absolute state of shock....I can't beleive they actually won it.....

Haha, let the trade rumors for the first overall pick begin!

This is a heck of a lot to give up for the first overall. I'd do it from a Buffalo standpoint, but I'd be more inclined to offer a deal like this.

To Buf: 1st Overall
To Wash: Kotalik, Vanek, Janik, 2004 first round pick (13th overall)

I honestly believe Buffalo has the assets to make a pitch for Ovechkin. They have a lot of depth at forward.

As good as Ovechkin is/will be...he's still only one guy, and that's a lot to give up from a Buffalo standpoint -espeically with Dumont.

Offer a potential or current no. 1 center and some good defense prospects and/or good young NHL defensemen, and maybe a scoring wing. Do NOT waste time making goalies or potential second/third line centers the centerpiece of your offer, as the Caps already have these up the wazoo.

Don't trade up for Ovechkin.

Vanek(Potential Franchise Player)
1st rounder this year(Wes O'Neill.,Valabik etc)
1st rounder next year
Dumont(Nice young 50 point player)

for Ovechkin(Possible Superstar)

Pass.

At most I trade Vanek,13th and a 2nd to move up 12 spots.

If somebody want Ovech from the caps they're going to have to seriously overpay. Caps have got alot of depht... The only thing they where missing was a franchise player for there offense and they got it.

Look at ther dmen and forwards under 24 or ther goalies... ouch! A team is goint to have to overpay for real.

All they were missing is a franchise player on offense? Did they not just have Jagr and Bondra at the beginning of the season? A lot of good those offensive threats did.

Washington can't/won't afford Zhitnik, they already have a lot of goalies(albeit overrated ones...I'm not sold on Oullet at all),Pyatt may be worth something but those 3 aren't enough to move up 12 spots in any draft, let alone one for Ovechkin.

Stupidest deal ever. Vanek is an awesome potential star, they can shore up the defense with their 13th overall, J.P. Dumont will give them 50 points and Ovechkin hasn't even put on an NHL uniform yet and we hail him as the second coming of christ. Plus, Buffalo can't overpay like some teams looking for that pick (I'm looking at you Slats) can.
