Wrong, a player has to make every effort to avoid the goalie. As Primeau tripped over that could be said to be true.

Total domination for the equaliser though!

I would disallow the goal unless the goalie took a dive or Primeau was pushed into the goalie by a Tampa player. In any event according to Graves the correct call was to disallow the goal.

They're committing suicide with all the turnovers.

I'm at work, can't watch the game. How is the flow? Who is looking good? How are both teams playing?

Flyers stopped hitting half way through the 1st. Entire game is played at Tampa's pace. It's as if all the open ice Tampa gives suckered the Flyers into playing a skilled game.

Not good for Philly. Dingman would have difficulty scoring on his own net most of the time.

The Flyers must have went into the second period thinking that goals would be a gimme.

From the drop of the puck to start the second the Flyers regressed into their Game 4 vs. Toronto incarnation.

Tampa is playing quite well now, but this game is more about the Flyers lack of disipline than anything else. Good for Tampa for capitalising on it.

It should be noted that when Graves said it was the correct call to call it a 'no goal', he was reading directly from the NHL rulebook.

Flyers are playing a skill game at this point, they need to bang these guys around more. Don't play run & gun with the Bolts.

Well, the flyers played a good 10 minutes in the first and a good 10 minutes in the 2nd. The rest of the game they just played sloppy. The games in Tampa are going to be low scoring as the ice is a complete joke. They might as well put a layer of snow on it. Teams should just use the glass to clear late in periods as they never have to worry about icing. Tampa converted on their chances, the flyers did not and that's why the game ended up as it was.

Did anyone see what happened on the first Tampa goal? I'm not sure how Johnsson didn't clear the zone, but I heard it may have hit the ref in the back. Anyway, the flyers just turned the puck over too much, Esche didn't make any big saves, and the flyers played pretty poor all in all. However, watching this game has made me very optomistic for the rest of the series.

wouldn't bad ice affect tampa more as they play more of a skilled game?

Huh..one done, these series will be a thriller but now we got a good start even if the team was a bit rusty in the beginning but half-ways Tampa dominated the game and Flyers didn't create many scoring chances at all. Everyone talked about Flyers depth but im impressed by our forth line, Dingman-Perrin-Roy, what a work and they even created chances and scored, well done

Sorry, you're being too logical. This thread is apparently about making excuses for the Flyers, regardless of whether or not they make any sense. Try again.

Maybe it is his home team. Living in Florida, you should know, a lot of people there aren't from Florida.

Timander is -3 and Pitkanen is -2!! Time to sit one of them and bring in Seidenberg?
Seidenberg is having a good playoff for his AHL club...4 points in 5 games. What do you guys think?

Isnt that what it is all about? and the #1 excuse of all excuses are BAD ICE BAD ICE. Just for your information Temperatures of 70F+ this time of the year is rather common in Philadelphia and last time i checked that is way above the freezing temp for water. I have more a feeling bad ice is the excuse you use when you lose.

Bad ice if anything would HURT the Lightning more than anyone else

Yeah Khabibulin was not impeded at ALL there. He still should have been able to make the save. Shame on him! That's not interference!

Sorry but being a klutz doesn't make you innocent and doesn't justify knocking the goalie into the net.

very nice pictures hoek.

I was explaining the play to my nin year old daughter, and basically said it looked like a bad call that went the lightning's way. then they showed the replay and even my 9 year old (could not care lesss about any sport) daughter agreed that it was interference. It was the correct call (as the photos support). I know if it happened the other way, I'd probably grumble too. Something along the lines of "fine time for the refs to get one right".
