Any news on Michalek?

Just wondering if people can post here if they hear anything. Heard he might have tweaked his knee or something?

Didn't look too great on the bench after whatever happened. CBC showed him gliding in a TV timeout, so hopefully nothing too serious...hoping he's back on Friday!

Hes finished for a while. Call a spade a spade. I thought he looked noticeably slower before this happened.

Just heard on the Team 1200 that they think he re-agravated his injured knee. They still don't know to what extent & how serious it is. Will probably know more tomorrow. No kidding or should I say maybe we will & maybe we won't, it's the playoffs, teams normally are mum at this time of year on evething let alone injuries.

I guess it was the risk to take with his leg already injured...

Let's just hope this is the type of injury that can heal nicely over the summer before the start of next season.

Great. Just ****ing great. All of our new forward acquisitions are now either injured, or they're f-ing Jonathan Cheechoo.

While it does suck that Michalek is injured...
Injuries happen, I'm fine with the depth guys we have. I think we can still be successful without Michalek.

Fortunately we have Foligno who can move up onto that wing. Without MM and Kovalev though we really can't afford to lose anymore scoring line players to injuries.

We're kind of just hanging on with MM, Kovalev and Kuba out. We're lucky to have depth, but its only so deep.

It was a positive sign that he was able to skate on the ice during the break and could put pressure on it. If I had to take an assumption I would say that just jammed it and it is tight. Does anyone have the nature of the original injury. MCL,ACL,PCL?

It didnt appear THAT bad...if he truly reinjured it he would have been carried to the dressing room like he was the last time.

Im hopeful this is something that can be played on..

If Michalek can't go who will replace him? Donovan, Shannon or Cheechoo? I would put Donovan in because he brings some size & grit, move Folign up with Cullen & Fisher & insert Chum onto the 4th line. Cheechoo might also be a possibility.

Regin - Spezza - Alfredson
Foligno - Cullen - Fisher
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil
Donovan - Z. Smith - Winchester

I wish we had confidence in Hennessy.

Winchester for the boardwork, Smith for the net drive, Hennessy for the slick 4th line skill taking advantage of other 4th line players playing the role McAmmond did during our Cup run.

i think you're right. Foligno had a pretty good game and should be able to replace michalek. might even be a slight upgrade if foligno plays at his best while michalek was not at his best.
Donovan or cheechoo should both be able to do what foligno was doing on the 4th line.

Yeah, unless it's very serious, he will play, it's the freaking playoffs.

Though, if he's gone for the rest of the playoffs, I wouldn't be too worried about round 1, but it would be a huge blow to any deep run aspirations. You just can't continue losing depth if you want to go far.

I think he was glued to the bench for precautionary reasons. If it was really serious he would have left for the lockerroom, but he stayed on the bench and skated on his own on a few occassions.

Hopefully he'll be fine.

Where, how, why? For all the ice time he got he did very little tonight. It was the Ruutu-Kelly-Neil show tonight (and Karlsson's goal was a nice bounce to his stick, back of net!)

ACL. He has a partially torn ACL I believe. He'll need surgery at seasons end. Its very concerning imo. He's recovered from one of these injuries before but how much is this going to slow him down afterwords? I don't think he'll be ready until a month or so into next season due to the recovery time.

Hopefully he can come back from this and play in the playoffs but I have my reservations. Foligno played a solid game tonight so hopefully he can step up in Milan's place. Some of you may get your Cheechoo wish after all...
