What did you guys think of Couture tonight? I wasn't stoked about his polay.
One of the few bright spots IMO. Never once gave up on the puck. His line had some offensive pressure but never did get the puck to the net which was my one concerns. Overall he was fine. But the burden isn't on his shoulders right now.
I hope someone else out there watched the game impartially and will agree with this: Thornton was miles better than Marleau out there. Patty was lazy and a turnover machine while Thornton drove the net and played hard.
stop it. One game is not a series. We got dominated by Nashville 4-1 a couple of years ago in game one and won the next 4. Let's not hit the panic button....yet.
Very true. This was a one goal game and while there were many flaws and concerns, there were bright spots and still hope (albeit fading) that this series can be won.
Next game is big. Really big. No panic buttons yet.
The bad: The team defense was so good, that the forwards spent more time worrying about their own end (but doing a great job of it) than forcing the issue on offense.
As little optimism as I want to have, this is a race to four, not one. Colorado only has one.
Let's see what McLovin has up his sleeve for Game 2, hopefully the same stuff that they tried in the third.
what team defense? Nabokov was the only defense tonight and when we leave him out to dry he lets in a softie.
The tank seemed a bit deflated tonight except for the first couple minutes and after the SJ goal, and it reflected on the team. I am surprised we were able to take the first one from you on the road, but I still think the young guns of the Avs most likely wont make it past the first round.
I actually thought Thornton was solid tonight. Wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. Hell, did Joe have 5 SOG in any game this year?
I was glad to see him hustling back into the play when there was a possesion change. However it looked like he was fighting the puck when he had it tonight. Wasn't making great passes at all.

He was alright. Good Times. Bad Times. Marleau sucked. Heatley was good first 2 periods and then invisible for the most part. Probably gave up on his linemates.

So the forwards, constantly coming back to take care of their own end, limiting a team to two goals, including one that 9 times out of 10 wouldn't be a goal, is considered invisible team defense?
Yeah, I understand doom and gloom is easier than happiness because its easier, but there were positives tonight. The Sharks were non-existent offensively, mainly due to the attention to detail they paid to their own end. When they started to open it up, they got more chances. When they held the puck for ages, doing their best not to make a mistake, they didn't make that mistake, but they also didn't force the issue.
Get aggressive, and win this series. Stay complacent and play not to lose, and they will.
I don't know why the Sharks decided to start playing the dump and chase style. They almost never play this way and when they do theyre terrible at it.
because when a team stacks 4 guys on the blue line you have to play that way. Sharks just need to be faster and more aggressive in the offensive end. HIT someone down low! Don't be so nice to them!

I'm not going to argue but Anderson got the puck and cleared it 9 out of 10 times.
Patrick Marleau was absolutey horrible tonight. He was unbelievably bad. Lazy, poor plays, no puck control. He contributed nothing positively. He has roughly 3 games left in teal if he doesn't change his gameplay QUICKLY.
I'm so sick of watching this. We, as fans, deserve better. I expect Friday, or I don't even know what's going to happen.

Not sure if this was pointed out yet, but top line SOG:

that's because of poor dump-ins and no aggressiveness by our forwards to get in deep quickly to stop that from happening. We need to be assertive and push them around a bit.

I look forward to the next 4 (at least) games.
Wow, you really haven't followed the Sharks playoff runs up to now, have you?

Marleau played tonight? I don't remember seeing him out there, mustve been invisible or something
Rob Blake was the goat of the game however. Lazy penalty gave the Avs the first goal of the game and TJ Galliardi made him his ***** in the final minute which led to the GWG. He was Pathetic.
Also 3 shots on goal in the 2nd period? Really? Aren't going to win many games with 3 shots in any period.

Hey now, at least he is being consistent with his play all season.

Not denying what you may have noticed... but I thought Juicy was a little flat footed personally. Just a step off of where he was... granted that is a step ahead of where we thought he'd be.
McGinn looked sharp and tonight, imo. Not much effect in the end, but I like where his play was at.
