CCM Vector V04 Hockey Helmet Review

I need to buy a new helmet because my helmet got pretty f*ed up when my basement got flooded with the all the rain north jersey got last month. Its going to be my 3rd season playing hockey. I'm in a noob non checking league so i don't really need an expensive helmet. I wanted people's thought on this helmet before i picked it up or if they have any suggestions on cheap quality helmets.

Fit is funky on that helmet.

Bauer 4500 or CCM Vector V08, ftw. Both of those are solid inexpensive helmets.

I can corroborate that the 4500 helm story as being a pretty damned good helmet. I use one with a visor and it is comfy and takes a good knock.

Well you got some suggestions what to buy, so I just give you my thoughts on the CCM V4 helmet (I use one since 5 months).

It's not a top of the line bucket, so if you approach it that way, you will not be dissapointed. It's protective enough. I play in a checking league, I got a fair share of hits and slashes to the head / face and was never injured. It took me about 4-5 tries to adjust it but I am finally comfortable when wearing it.

The negatives:
I lost about 2-3 chin straps, and now use hocketape instead (patent pending lol). The snaps are a ***** to click in, and you're pushing your ear when you do. That sucks. A buddy of mine got the same helmet, and in his he had one of the cushion foams on the side not holding the screw which holds the cage / visor, so the screw spins around when trying to tighten. Might be just his bad luck, but do not expect top quality (the guy at hockeyus says the same about these screws).

Hope this helps.

Helmets do fit different. If you had a helmet that fit well, you may want to stick with the same brand as it should fit similar and you know what you'll be getting.

I have the V08 and for $50 think its a great lid. Dont go too cheap on a helmet. Even in a non-contact league accidents can happen and it doesnt matter how you end up smacking your head, if you do, you want protection.

What's the difference between the bauer 4500 and nike bauer 4500? Nb4500 is 5 bucks more. Is there a huge difference? Should I just cough up the extra money and pick it up?

I got the 2008 Reebok 4k w/ cage (for like 50 bucks) and it works well.
