The sens should play much better than game one .. game one was the stepping stone for the rookies and especially for elliot .. i have a feeling he will play muc better tonight but not so sure if we will actually win since i bet pens will come out hard!!
Let's go guys, they can win another game in Pittsburgh. This isn't the same team that won the Stanley Cup last yr, there are a lot of things that are different. They don't have the same hunger, they don't have all of the same guys & Malkin isn't anywhere near as dominating as he was last yr although he did have a good game one. These guys were only in 4th place just one spot ahead of Ottawa & Fleury has always been overrated as a goalie, I've seen him choke on a number of occassions.
We still have decent depth even with Kuba, Kovalev & Michalek out. The 1st line has to start getting more shots to the net & start scoring, we need our 2nd line to pick it up & contribute on the scoreboard & we need the 4th line to play more offensively. The Kelly line will continue to bang & hem them in their zone, Carkner will have to take care of Rupp early. We are the more physical team & we need to prove it, every player needs at least 2 hits tonight & Sutton & Volchenkov need to make a couple of big hits early to change momentum. Let's Go Sens, play them tough.
It's cliche, but we'll have to be better, cause they should be.
This game is on Elliott, Spezza, Alfie and Phillips, they were ok last game, need to be better. The rest did they're jobs last game.
I have to agree. We showed that we can play with them last game but we really have to step it up going forward. Elliott did ok (got the win afterall) but really wasn't one of his strongest performances and we're pretty lucky he only let in 4. Personally I thought Spezza had a horrendous games and was back to his old ways of giveaways and no defense and backcheck. Phillips also had a subpar game - not horrible but certainly not playing like a #1 or #2 D. I actually didn't think Alfie did that bad - not much offensively but he played his usual good neutral zone game and tried to make things happen and was on it defensively.
Game #1 was a great gift and showed that we can play with them (particularly if we play physical (which explains why Kelly-Ruutu-Neil was arguably our best line)) but if it wasn't for a poor outing by Fleury, I don't think it's far fatched to say that we might have had a hard time winning it.
Clouston really needs to drill it in their head's that we can't outskate, outfiness Pitts and players have to hit all they can, play the trap, keep it close and tight and just wait for their chances. I think we can outgrind them for 3 more wins but we really can't play Pitt's game, we have to keep it a defensive contest and make them a bit afraid of us.
