FIFA 10 vs. World Cup 2010

So I've decided to buy a soccer game for 360. WC2010 comes out next week, and I'm wondering if I should wait and buy it or just go with FIFA. I really enjoy playing the World Cup tournament, but I fear I'll get bored of just having National teams once the WC is over. I assume that you can still create tournaments in FIFA, so I could just recreate the WC?

In the past, have the tournament games been better than FIFA? Worth buying or just renting?

i think FIFA has more replay value, you can create the same tournament on FIFA, it just wont have the flashy stuff before and after games.

FIFA games are fun, however, i have fifa 09 and i have tried the demo for fifa 10... same game really, but nonetheless fifa games are fun (since they made it more realistic by incorporating PES themes)

I'm going to get the world cup game next week. I never got fifa 10 because they are all the same.

I always get the WC games and the Uefa Euro Cup games (the 08 game was the best ever so far)

I downloaded the demo for XBL last week...but I need to get used to the Fifa gameplay.

I am a huge PES guy and getting used to it is going to take time. But the graphic and options are awesome!

The official song of the World Cup will start to get on your nerves the more you play the demo.

i played the world cup 2010 demo... honestly you should just wait to get fifa11 b/c there is virtually no difference but you probably get to have more teams/players in fifa

the interesting option is play historic matches, that would be pretty cool

I'm a Fifa nut, I'll be getting World Cup also, but I would suggest you get Fifa 10. It's probably dropped in price now and you get the world and club teams. You don't get some glammed up world cup mode, but you get manager mode which I'd prefer to have anyway. If you are playing online, probably a much big user base for Fifa than World Cup, plus the option to play ultimate team online.

I'm only getting World Cup for a change after THRASHING Fifa since release and I'm still thrashing it now, and if World Cup wasn't coming out, I would keep thrashing it. If they put out an "Olympic Ice Hockey 10", would you prefer that or NHL 10?

Still holding on buying another footy game and hoping that Seabass and co. at Konami get their act together and deliver a standout PES again...

So far how is the 2010 World Cup game for those people that have it? My last soccer game I purchased was 2006 World Cup and I loved that. I know this should be a huge improvement and I checked out the reviews and they seem great so far.

I have it. Definitely an improvement over FIFA 10 in terms of graphics and gameplay (gameplay is a bit more like PES). But as people said, less re-playability than FIFA 10, and so far online doesn't have as many options and is a bit more laggy than FIFA 10 (On PS3).

I just played the WC2010 demo and daaayuum, it looks good. Sharper and the lighting is awesome. I'll probably rent it because the game doesn't have much replay value.

That's a very fair point. I'll rent it also.

For me, the replay value is enough to keep me busy till Fifa 11 comes out.

Other than the scenarios (road to the world cup), there`s the qualifications and world cup itself, which i do with weaker teams everytime for a challenge.

Don't hold your breath... Konami just doesn't have the funds for PES to challenge FIFA now that EA is taking its sports franchises more seriously. PES dominated during the PS2/Xbox era, much like the NHL 2k series, but neither Konami nor 2k has adapted to the 360/PS3.

I didn't get a soccer game in either of the last 2 years... I'll probably get FIFA 11 when it comes out, since FIFA 10 seems to be really good.

But I also hope that PES comes out with something really great...

Based on the Q&A session Seabass and co. held with the European games media at PES Weekend last year, I have hopes that they'll at least attempt to correct the ship. They asked all the right tough questions and he gave honest answers (like admitting the lack of effort/funding on licenses, not addressing the technical leap fully etc.). PES 2010 was an improvement over 2009 I hear but there's still a lot of work to be done.

After hearing a lot of "omg this is da greatest soccer game evah" praise from friends, I got the demo... I guess I'll have to rent it to get the full experience, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by the game.

Once you get past the licensing and the presentation, I don't think the gameplay is that great.

the world cup game...

I just played a world cup group stage... I think there is a bug in the game concerning advancement. Overall the group standings were Japan with 7 points, and Brazil with 7 points, Montenegro with 3 points and bermuda with 0. I was playing as Brazil and beat Montenegro 1-0. Yet, at the end of the the Brazil Japan game which ended 0-0 it told me I was eliminated despite being tied with Japan with 7 points and 2nd place in the group, and Montenegro with 3 points ( I beat them remember) advanced.

I'm puzzled... is this a bug in the game or is this how the format actually is? because I always thought the top 2 teams in each group advance....
