Sounds like quite the meltdown by Bernier and the Monarchs. They lose the first game after leading 2-0.

Monarchs lose 4-3

Bad bounce goal comes back to bite them.

Turn it around for game 2 boys.

Go Kings!

the bad bounce goal was hideous - off the shaft of Campbell's stick, off Bernier's stick and glove, and then off the post & into the net. i was sitting behind Bernier for that one.

up to that point, the Monarchs were dominating the Sharks....a shift of momentum, and they were toast. poor defensive play in their own zone led to the next 3 goals. pretty ugly for the 3d period.

So any reinforcements coming down to Manchester?

Clune, Parse, perhaps Drewiske or Harrold? Not sure about eligibility issuess, though..

No one can come down, none of them are on the clear day roster.

Is that the reason Hickey isn't playing in the playoffs? Or is he injured?

Actually, Brandon losing was the best thing that could happen to Kings fans. . . Brandon is automatically in the Memorial Cup because they are the host city. Calgary (Jones & Kozun) now have to beat Tri City Americans and Barrie Colts (Clifford) need to beat Windsor . . . it's still all good for Kings fans.

Yes very disappointing for Monarchs fans. Hickey came back and looked good in the last 4 regular season games but hurt his ankle at practice the day before the playoffs started. Hate to see someone with his talent hurt so much

The day after he was injured he told a friend it wasn't serious and he would be back soon, needless to say he still is not back 10 days later!

Man, hopefully the Monarchs will get him back soon. They're dressing 7 defenseman right now anyways, they're too loaded on D.

Not saying he's a bust in general but he's been a bust for Manchester so far.

Well I don't necessarily agree.. injuries happen, he's still young. When he was playing, he was solid, if this happens next year, then I will agree with the bust statement

Awesome! Can you give us a breakdown of the game/players tomorrow? I think we'd all really appreciate it!

He's been injured pretty much all year. I don't think it's fair to label him a bust. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Hickey makes the kings roster over Voinov next year.

I sure would. I think he's got the talent and I doubt he's a bust, so I agree with that part of your assessment, but injuries have arguably set back his development and certainly his physical conditioning. I'm thinking Voinov makes it and sticks, and Hickey has one more (hopefully FULL) year in Manchester before we see him here full-time.

At this point, Alzner and Hickey are on the same level, but at least Alzner has been healthy and is playing for the Caps in a game 7 of the playoffs.

The reason I say Hickey wins a spot over Voinov is because basically, Hickey just needs to outplay him in the preseason, which I think is very doable. I can't say I know a whole lot about Voinov's game but my perception is that Hickey's more of the quarterback dman that we need. In any case, as a kings fan, it's a win/win situation.

No way no how Hickey makes the NHL next year. He needs to ****ing EARN it like Bernier, Moller, Purcell, etc. Sadly, he can't do so when he's hurt. Thems the breaks.
