Not as big as a surprise as one may think. Greilinger did nothing in the Olympics, vanished in the playoffs and wasn't anywhere to be seen in the exhibition-games either.

I know that he wasn't that great the last time (I'm from Ingolstadt ), but I think that he is nevertheless more capable than some other players on this team (isn't meant to be disrespecting).

but it doesn't matter what he "could" do. what matters is what he does. and that was basically nothing. he was pretty much useless in exhibition games. when he's not scoring, he has not much value.
the greilinger until january would help this team. the greilinger since olympics wouldn't.

and wasn't he injured (knee?) during the POs? maybe a reason he looks so tired?

The IIHF posted 19 players and 3 GKs on their site today from Germany. Does anyone here know if its accurate? It looks like Fischer, Hördler and Kreutzer were the cuts if that's accurate.

it's not accurate. germany will announce its final roster tomorrow afternoon after the final practice.

the only thing confirmed is that endras will be starter tomorrow and kotschnew backup.

The overtime win wasn't the only good news from last night. Chicago is up 3:1 in the series against Vancouver so maybe we'll see Christian Ehrhoff !?

Aside from Endras the player I liked best in yesterdays game was Patrick Hager. His fighting spirit is unmatched.

Endras was amazing yesterday. As always after a big win you don't want to choose a player who was outstanding, but besides Endras, I really liked the solid work of our D-men, especially Holzer, Sulzer and Krueger.

@ Dfire: I don't like that the Canucks are close to losing the series against the Hawks, but seeing Ehrhoff play for Germany may be the only upside ;-)

So it will be Zepp in goal against Finland. I thought he would go with Kotschnew, but apparently Krupp feels Zepp is the better option since he once played in Finland.

Canucks won last night, so unfortunately Ehrhoff is still at least a few days away from coming to play (if he decides to play).

And yet, even though Ehrhoff would be an enormous upgrade, since he is our best hockey player right now, it is not our defense that worries me. However he would be invaluable on the PP.

Still I'm quite glad the Canucks won. I like them.

I would have rather seen the Hawks win

OT, but I just wanted to comment on the current state of German hockey. The German hockey scene seems to be on the verge of breaking out and in the last 10 years they have actually produced some very good players from early and late rounds of the NHL draft. I can see the team looking like this in the next 5 or so years.

Sturm-Goc-Hecht
Mueller-Schutz-Gogulla
Flaake-Reider-Kuhnhackl
Hofflin-Barta-Wolf

Ehrhoff-Seidenberg
Holzer-Sulzer
Schubert/Dietrich/Braun/Krueger/Reul/Abeltshauser

Greiss
Pielmeier
Grubauer

Not sure if I'm forgetting anyone, but that looks like a very solid team (especially defense and goaltending). They look like they could be a top 6-8 team in a few years.

I think Endras might replace either Pielmeier or Grubauer.
Also I don't see Reul develop to that level. More likely guys like Fischer or Reiss will be an option.

I'm not really sure about the forwards, but I don't think Wolf will be playing on the 4th line. He's just not that type of player. Also I don't think that Hecht and Sturm, if he recovers from his current injury at all, will still be around in 5 years. So I would probably take Sturm out and move Mueller to the 1st line and add Gawlik to the 2nd. He has played great with Schutz and Gogulla a few years ago, and I would love to see that line again.

Krupp has added Kreutzer to the team as 13th forward.

Does anyone have a picture of Goc or Sulzer wearing the yellow jersey from the first game? I've been looking on the internet, but haven't been able to find anything.

What I still don't get, and I think it was also discussed during the game vs. Finland, is why Constantin Braun didn't get an assist on the OT winner by Schutz against the US.

Can somebody explain this to me. Is there a rule I don't know about or were they just blind?

Braun and Holzer should get the assists for the Schütz goal
Guess they just totally forgot about it...

Right, Holzer should get one too, almost forgot about him. Any chance they will be awarded the assists retroactively?

I have a strange feeling for todays games. I wouldn't be surprised if the Danes beat us in regulation while Finland beats the US in OT.

If this really happens, would the US be the first team ever to advance to the next round without a single win?

Not yet. The last I heard was that Krupp hopes Ehrhoff will join the team. There was no word if he is likely to come over.
Personally I think he will only come to play for Germany if they avoid the relegation round. But that's just a hunch.

In the Germany-Denmark game the commentators mentioned that Ehrhoff is already on his way
