Rejean Beauhermin

Funny little story. This is the goalie for the P.A. Raiders of the WHL. We drafted him this year and he is a 19 yr old teachers assistant here in Winnipeg. Yesterday he got a call from Paul Holmgren telling him to fly to Philly because he will be our 3rd string goalie for the playoffs. They want to leave the Phantoms goalies alone unless it is an emergency. Pretty cool that you are a 19 yr old teaching aid and you get the call to practise with a team in the ECF. This kid was pretty good for P.A. this year. Go Flyers ! Yeahhhhhhhhhhh!

They likely would have called Tremblay but he is still playing.
VERY cool story.

Absolutely bizarre. I have heard that if 2 goalies go down in one game they can bring in a 3rd. But does this person have to be under contract? If something happened where Esche and Burke were both hurt in practice Niittymaki would surely still play.

Absolutely, this kid will just practise with the team to give Esche a few breaks to rest for games. I don't know, Maybe his style is similar to Khabibulin's ???

I think if it was necessary they could sign him to a one game contract, I'm not sure exactly but wasn't that what Vancouver did during the season with the university student they had on the bench for one game? I think Beauchemin would just be with the team in case he had to suit up during the game, instead of having the issue with having to get Nitty to the arena like they did for game 5. If anything happened in practice I would assume with more notice they'd go with Nitty.

Used to be a rule, maybe it's still in effect. If a team loses 2 goaltenders to injury during a game, any qualified goaltender in the building, excepting the other team, may step in and play goal for the team having the injuries.
