I would rather not see Boedker play. He was a team worst -19 in SA and some of the SA posters said he did not look great on defense. Against Detoit, we need to play good defense and I would be afraid Bods would be a liability.
Perreault can score and played decent in his few chances this year. He also looked pretty physical out there which fits in with Tippetts style.
Biz is a former defenseman. He likely won't be on the score sheet, but can play defensively responsible hockey. Not to mention his ability to hold some of the Wings players a little more accountable.
Perrault looked very good in his short stint before the concussion. Definitely more physical and defensively responsible than Boedker. I'd give him a host before any of the rookies. Now is not the time for the kids to learn on the job.
Perrault looked good in the one game after the olympic break before the deadline as well
I could see either guy, but I think I'd give Perrault the nod over Bissonette if he's completely recovered. Dirty/physical play doesn't seem to have been too much of a problem against Detroit, and as you mentioned, JP can actually make offensive plays.
Lots of twitter updates from Walsh on Fiddler and Doan.
Sounds as though Fiddler is a go for game 4, but Doan is iffy. Will see if he can skate tomorrow a.m. Day to Day. My personal speculation: Reading between the lines on Tippett's press conference, it sounds as though there'd need to be pretty significant improvement overnight to have him ready for game 4. But longer term it seems more promising. Having the 2-day break after game 4 may be a good break for us.
One last point -- there was a nugget at the end of the Tippett press conference that I just heard and which is nice: "He was in good spirits today, so that's a positive."

SO I'm thinking ... we are gonna see Doaner in game 5
OR MAYBE ... I'm praying ... we are gonna see Doaner in game 5
Go Coyotes!!
I'm just hoping that if he plays he can be physical. I don't know if he's able but the physicality and sheer moxie he brought to game 1 was inspiring!!!
I hope he comes back when he can be effective. He was effective in banging bodies during game 1. He's obviously had some rib injuries throughout the season and now this shoulder issue. With those types of injuries I am not sure he can shoot up enough drugs to go out there and play physical. Offensively he hasn't had much to offer for the past couple of months (Feb-Apr) where he had 1-11-12 in his last 26 games. This is why organizational depth is important, and also why this team has been successful this season. There is enough depth on this team where Doan didn't have to be the best player, and that should carry into the playoffs.
I'm reiterating my comments from other threads here, but it was obvious Doan's physicality was missed in Game 4. I'd lean towards Perrault if Doan can't go, but I'd also worry that he or anyone else we threw in there would be ripe for the picking early and often by one of Detroit's thieves (Datsyuk/Zetterberg). We can't be turning the puck over at our own blue-line. Lang needs to be replaced, but by whom is the million dollar question. Lang/Perrault haven't played much hockey of late. Hopefully that problem solves itself with Doan's return.
He only skated for 15 minutes. I have my doubts about how effective Doan could be when he comes back. I know he's a warrior but he crashed on his right side which is where he gets all the power from his hits and shots. Still.... a banged up Doan would be better than a healthy Lang.

Yeah, he was trying to be upbeat in the presser posted on Walsh's twitter, but it sounds as though this is 50/50 at best. Bummer. Glad we get the 2 day break.
These guys have picked each other up all year. If it's time for the rest of the guys to make sure Doaner gets another series this year, so be it. He's carried the franchise at times in his career, and every guy in that room needs to do everything possible to return the favor.
I didn't want the Red Wings. I've been pretty vocal about that. I thought it was the worst matchup in the West, and probably the second worst matchup for us in the entire NHL. Nobody sane would make us favorites at this point, even with home ice advantage, if Doan can't go or isn't close to 100 percent. But the way this season started, it's all good now. At worst, a ragtag team has held its own and turned a sad, empty building into a rocking party house in just 5 months. At best, the next 5 days are a defining chapter for professional ice hockey in Arizona. I guess you can't expect to have that kind of potential upside without tough odds. If the Captain can't go, it's just one more hurdle. This team seems to know what to do with hurdles.
Xtra910 talked to Tippett today. Asked him about Schneider possibly getting in. Said they tinkered with that idea. But he likes the way all 6 defensemen have played so far. Also said there's a possibility to go with 7 Dmen this time.

If Doan is out again, and given the miserable failure that has been the PP for the past two games, I'd dress Schneider as a PP specialist (for whatever that's worth) and sit Lang. The result can't possibly be any worse.
Just sucks that it's the shoulder. A lower-body thing--losing speed and agility--that can be dealt with, but the ability to hit, shoot, lift sticks, win faceoffs, muscle the puck out of the corner, basically everything we've relied on Doan to do... if it's just physically not there, it doesn't matter how determined he is to play through pain. For the love of Elvis, Shane, why couldn't you just run over Howard, penalties be damned...?

Where did you hear he only skated for 15 minutes. Sounds to me from seregi the pr guy sounded as though he skated full the whole practice with the team. He is a game time decision for tomorrow night. If i was a betting man he will be in there.

Doan participated in the first half of Thursday's practice before leaving the ice for treatment. Tippett said Doan will be a game-time decision Friday.

Doan led the team through stretches and then participated in drills before leaving the ice after about 15 minutes. After practice, Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett told reporters Doan would likely be a game-time decision on Friday.

I agree Schneider as the 7th d wouldn't be worse than lang, but I think we can do better. I'd rather see vadermeer biz or one of the SA guys. Actually vandermeer would be ideal since he can play forward or d more effectively than Lang.
I just don't think our craptacular pp has been due to a lack or personnel it's just a systemic thing. We also had a few huge missed chances that last pp game 4. Even if we just start hitting the net more regularly we look a lot better out there I think. Waaay too many missed shots last game.
