Yes. Really bad defensive coverage by him on that third goal for Denmark. If the 2009 draft was redone today I don't know if he'd go in the top 5. I originally wasn't too wild about picking OEL but now it seems he was a steal at 6th overall.

Just asking, because i saw really tall guy wearing #77 get burned on 2 or 3 of the denmark goals who looked a little lost out there.

A nice start to the worlds for OEL as he was chosen Sweden's best player in their victory over Norway.

Never knew about that (BP) feature until you pointed that out. Pretty good stuff as from the stats you would think MPS got it.

Yeah, I didn't see the game but noticed the BP beside his name and eventually deducted what it meant.

Nah... OEL probably just had a quite Lidstrom like game. Propelling the offense in transition, while being a steady threat in his own end. At least I'm hoping

You got a steal in OEL. I hadn't watched him alot before he got a spot on the national team, but boy, is he going to be good. I hope he thrives in the desert!

OEL getting even more praise during game against Czech right now...one guy said he plays like a 15yr veteran...and easily would be top 4 for the Coyotes out of camp.

Who's not excited about seeing this kid in a Yotes uniform this summer/fall...can't wait...and given that I think Z is headed to Ottawa we could go with:

Jovo/OEL
Yandle/Demo
Lepisto/Aucoin
Vandermeer

if Z signs then

Z/Jovo
Yandle/OEL
Lepisto/(Aucoin/Demo)
Vandermeer

although I hope GMDM can unload Vandermeer at the draft

Swedish national team fans are basically drooling themselves stupid over this kid. That's a good sign. Calling him better than Hedman is pretty remarkable. When you can't beat Lidstrom, go out and draft your own I guess.

You can catch the current IIHF on Justin TV...the games are typically around lunch time, so I throw the "DO NOT DISTURB" up in the cubicle and sit back with some grub and watch it.

Of course its like a two-hour lunch

OEL would look cool too! Any way you spell it, there is some serious hype building around him. Can't wait to see him play.

I think most people that follows the swedish players would rank OEL higher than Hedman at this point.

Compared to the other young D-men on team sweden, Hedman and Karlsson (Ottawa), OEL plays a more poised and much less "rookie like" game of the three. If I could pick one of the three to have on the Red Wings I would easily take OEL.

He plays an offensive game like Karlsson, but he seems to be better at chosing his moments when to go to the net and so.

OEL with a nice goal 3-1 Sweden over Latvia.

Wrist shot from the blueline using two Latvia defenders as screens and goes top left corner...beauty!!!

I watched OEL in the playoff with leksand, he was by far the best player, outstanding actually. Now i have watched him in the WC and he is the best d-man in sweden by a mile. I cant see how this kid could fail in the NHL, and yotes is probably the perfect team for him.

OEL has signed a deal with Frölunda, he will train with them during the summer and then go to Phoenix camp. If he doesn't make the cut he'll go back to Sweden and play for Frölunda in the SEL.

I would guess that the deal is orchestrated by Ruuttu who was a captain for Frölunda during the 1995–96 season. He only played one season for the team but he's a legend in most fans eyes, and is often seen visiting our arena.

Well, if we won't be the AHL at least he'll be in the SEL, I guess. Some people have said he's NHL ready, but he's still inexperienced on NA ice. A difference that perhaps has attributed to Hedman's fall back to Earth.

I have nothing against players wanting to play in their homeland, especially at such a young age. I can completely see their side of it. However, it's getting to where almost all of our Euro prospects are pulling this card. We've heard that Goncharov is willing to accept playing in the AHL, some people assumed the same with OEL. Tikhonov and Lisin both did likewise. It kinda gives me a headache, but it doesn't diminish how highly I think of these prospects.

I am definitely good with that. The SEL is, in my opinion, the 2nd best hockey league in the world besides the NHL.
