Overview
Extra InformationCoach Mike Babcock confirmed that defenseman Brian Rafalski will play tonight in Game 4 vs. the Phoenix Coyotes. Rafalski didn't practice Monday or skate this morning.

No lineup changes for Detroit.

The Detroit Red Wings' Brian Rafalski did not practice Monday, but coach Mike Babcock said the defenseman will play in Game 4 of the team's Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series against Phoenix on Tuesday.

Rafalski apparently hurt his back in Game 3, although he came back to finish the game. Babcock said Rafalski took a "maintenance day'' Monday.

"He’ll play (Tuesday),'' Babcock said.

Babcock said he does not anticipate any lineup changes.

"Not at this point,'' Babcock said. "But the good thing about being the coach is you have the right to change your mind.''

With his team trailing the series 2-1, Babcock said it boils down to his players needing to outwork the Coyotes.

"You can talk about skill level all you want,'' Babcock said. "In the end, normally, we have real good structure and we out-determine you. We just keep on coming. So far in this series, they’ve done a better job of that part of the game than we have.''

Jonathan Ericsson was paired with Nicklas Lidstrom in practice, and Brett Lebda took Ericsson's place on the third pairing with Andreas Lilja.

Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan will not play tonight in Game 4 against the Detroit Red Wings, coach Dave Tippett said.

Doan did not skate this morning. Tippett said his upper-body injury (believed to be his right shoulder) is not long-term and believes there is a chance he can play in Game 5 Friday in Phoenix.

"With two days before our next game it's best for him to wait a couple of days,'' Tippett said. "Early on he was upset. His demeanor yesterday was good. He knows he's not going to be out long-term. Rest tonight and hopefully he can jump in on Friday.''

Doan was injured two minutes into the second period in Game 3, when he stumbled over goaltender Jimmy Howard and crashed his right shoulder into the boards.

Center Vernon Fiddler will return from his upper-body injury to replace Doan in the lineup.

Let's see! Lidstrom and Datsyuk have to step up.
We also have to take care of their Dmen jumping the play and scoring. Their Dmen have scored some goals, but now I think they have used all the tricks they had.

Go Wings!!!

We need a win tonight. I don't think we can beat them in Glendale if we get swept at home.

4-2 victory tonight. Drew Miller will score a goal tonight.

A lot of players have to step up. We are never going to win with only one line producing. This is as much as must win game as it gets. If Phoenix wins, we have to win 3 games in a row, I don't see that happening.

Without Doan, a major part of their physical game is out, but remember, without him they still dominated play. I'm still waiting for a solid game from Howard and a consistent 60 minute display. For some reason they just don't seem to have the stamina or focus for a full game and that's what is worrying me.

Anyways, I hope we win, I want to see a team that really wants to win tonight, because so far Phoenix have outplayed us.

Let's go Red Wings!

This is pretty much a must win.. I dont see us winning 3 games in a row with two of them being played in Phoenix..

I think Howard will be rock solid tonight, and he needs to be..

3-1 Wings..

Rafalski, Holmstrom, Eaves

Lombardi

They need to play with some drive; play like this is the last game of the season because if we lose it might as well be.

I dont know if its been talked about but does anyone else kinda think that we might see the Euro twins back together for a little if we start off like ****? It seems like its the last resort line combo but at this point it couldnt hurt if we get into trouble.

I want a win too; hopefully we will see a team with passion tonight wearing the home jerseys.

this is a heart attack game.
I think the Yotes will kill 25 percent of Wings fans by having a lead midway through the game.

Wings win 3-2
Zetterberg/Abdelkader/Rafaksi

Lose this one and it's over.

Well, I was at game 3 and it was a huge disappointment. Staying home tonight, but I might get tickets to game 6.

anyway, let's go red wings. I don't care who scores or what the score is,just as long as we get a win tonight!

Wish I knew... it means those of us on the west coast who want to see it have to be home by 3:30. And this game isn't even on national TV so it's not like they caved because some network thought it was a better start time.

Stupid 6:30 PM start, factor in the 2 hour time change over here in Saskatchewan, and I'll miss the first period for work.

I will be a nervous blackberry checker for that first period.

Big win tonight boys, let's do it!

I know how people love to bring their personal superstions to the GDT so here's why the Wings WILL win tonight...

I've only been able to watch 1 game and that was game 2....and I will be watching this one in it's entirety so we should win again.

If the Wings win this game, we will win the series.

Huge game for the Wings here. Great oppurtunity to tie the series up and give them some momentum to win the series.

Looking forward to a beauty, Go Wings Go
