Sam Rosen

Anyone almost get tears in their eyes listening to his insight during this post season?

He's such an awesome person, and my favorite commentator in ANY sport!

Don't tell me that, it's depressing.

And yes, he is my favorite announcer out of all my favorite teams.

Well, he's 62 years old. You have to figure that he has, at best, 8 years left in him.

It would be nice for the Rangers to make at least one more noteworthy run before he retires. It would be pretty pathetic to see him have to go out on yet another mediocre season.

He's been GREAT in the playoffs.

I still remember a couple months ago some posters saying he needed to give it up as he lost it, i'm sure someone could find that thread if they wanted

I'll be the first to admit I've thought he was losing it in the past. But he sounds pretty good tonight.

I like Doc better, but Rosen does a good job, and he's pretty much linked with most memories I have with the rangers, outside of game 3 v Buffalo and the Malik shootout goal.

Sam's the best. My favorite announcer period. It'll be a sad day when he hangs it up. They gotta have a HUGE send off for him.

My friend brought up a great point; he is getting old but it doesn't help that he's doing the NFL games and somewhere different every week for the first 3 months of the season.

Now all he has to concentrate on is hockey so he's smoother.

Are you kidding me?!? The annoying voice and overused exclamations (pitchforks, waffleboards, corrals). Not to mention he is the voice of one of our biggest rivals.

A true Rangers fan would NEVER, EVER, make this statement. Shame on you.

I rue the day Sam retires. There's no play by play guy working at MSG studios worthy of the role right now. Mike Crispino and John Giannone are terrible. I would not mind Kenny Albert. In fact I wouldn't mind bringing the whole radio team over. Dave is a good color guy. They are great to listen to together.

I think that Doc is one of the worst announcers around here.

I remember a stroy someone said that he used to scream like it was a great scoring chance for a shot from the blueline, and it got to the point where he wouldn't even pay attention when he heard him scream.

I hate his verbiage as well. I don't mind if you like him becuase personally it has no effect on me, but I just wanted to mention how much I really, really, don't like him.

He has been really good during the postseason so far. Better than he was during the season as he seems to be staying with the play better. He is great to listen to.

People don't realize how much traveling (and doing NFL as well) takes out of broadcasters.

Sam has been getting sloppy the past couple years, but it's understandable. Still one of the better calls.

True Rangers fan, what the hell does that mean? Some of us are actually objective enough to be able to appreciate another announcer. You look like a moron when you say things like that. I'm a hockey fan first, Ranger fan second. True Rangers fan. One of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Anyway.

I'm with Fitzy on this one. Right now, Doc is better than Sam. I wouldn't have said that ten years ago or probably even five years ago probably, but Sam's slipping with age. He doesn't see things the way he used to and the play moves to fast for him now. He makes a lot of mistakes. He's just not as good as he was. Now that being said, I'm going to be crushed when he retires (and he can have the job until he's 100 if he wants it as far as I'm concerned). It's going to be hard watching the Rangers on TV without that voice there. I hope when he does choose to 'hang up the mic' that Howie Rose gets the job. I really like him and he's the only PBP man who would immediately remind me of 1994.

I'm pretty sure I'll never hear a better announcing team in my lifetime. They were absolutely the best.

It's one thing to say Doc is technically the better announcer. It's another thing to say you like Doc better. I don't see how a real Rangers fan can say they like Doc better. Sorry, that's just me.

He wasn't saying he likes Doc better. He was saying Doc is currently the better one. You're reading into it too much.

I pray that one of Kenny Albert and Howie Rose gets the job once Sam is gone.

I don't see what makes Emrick so special. After hearing him call so many games, I still don't get what people love about him.

I like Sam Rosen's voice a lot more, the way he calls the game. The way he doesn't over exaggerate small plays. He doesn't ask awkward questions to the color man about something that no one cares about. He doesn't use stupid words that add absolutely nothing to the calling of the game.

IDK, Rosen transcends hockey. He does hockey, football, boxing. I can't see how anyone can think that Emrick is better, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
