I understand what you are saying but by the same token it is a reporter's job to try to get a story.

I highly doubt that Lowe had any involvement in the firings, those are the same guys that took care of him as a player... It sounds like Tambo has full control of the hockey operations.

What's everyone talking about this McKinnon guy? What did he do?

I hope Ken Lowe isn't gone, he's been with the Oilers basically since inception. It's not like he just forgot how to treat players overnight.

Good point. I think something is up (smoke, there's fire). If he was in another broadcast booth he'd have scooped everyone. But given how close he is with the Oil it might backfire. Hope not, Tencer seems to begetting better and I don't mind him as much.

Vince isn't a reporter. He's a paid Oilers PR spin doctor.

His job is essentially to manage PR.

He has completely mishandled this as a piece of PR.

This happens only a few days after a member of the press (not on the Oilers payroll) did the same thing and was pilloried.

He has zero excuses here. Zero.

His latest on his Twitter basically says "well at least the families won't hear about it on the radio". Filthy spin. He's saying his Twitter feed is a media outlet except when it isn't.

True, but these days the media in Edmonton will go to any lengths to break a story, no matter who they may throw under the bus along the way. Or no matter who they may upset along the way (families of staff).

But, I suppose that's just the way society is these days. Twitter and sites like Facebook are breeding grounds for rumours and leaks of important information/news.

I suppose I was a bit guilty of this early in the evening in the Predergast thread when I mentioned there would be some more firings soon. An hour later Tencer heard these same rumours. But, I'm not in the media like Tencer and Mackinnon or Matheson. Those guys have reputations to preserve.

Yea, Lowe and Moss should be the only ones to stay IMO.

He dropped the KP firing first on Twitter, apparently faster than the Oilers PR machine could rev up.

Prematurely leaked the KP firing. Exact same scenario that happened mere hours ago.

I don't think he'd fire Kevin Lowe's bro.

agreed, lowe should stay... i'd be very surprised if he was let go.... he had 20+ years of training experience before any of our recent injury woes... its not like he forgot how to do his job in the past few years

of COURSE joey isn't going to be fired, i can't even believe this needs to be said

Fully agree with keeping Joey, and Lowe, those two have been great, and Lowe has been doign this job since day 1, why sack him now?

And Joey, the heart and soul of this team, fired?
I would personally burn the GM's office for that.

Joey isn't going anywhere. Relax people. He's everyone's favorite Oiler staffer. The guy is a fan favorite and will be here as long as he wants to be.

Not to denigrate Joey, but I doubt handing out towels or getting the the guys another roll of hockey tape when they ask for one has had any impact on the injury problems the team has suffered these past few years. Ie. there's no reason to fire him

If Sparky is gone though, it may be too hard to keep Joey around.

great! since you can't point to any specific reason the oil's injury woes, all you can do is fire everyone who has been associated with the players' training and fitness. good stuff tambo, keep it up.
