what a joke.
I kinda expected it. If Mike Green wins the Norris it will be a joke.

the only thing you need to win the Norris is points apparently, no offense to Keith and Doughty

Sucks that Pronger got snubbed, but he wasn't the only one. This isn't really who I think should have been picked.

Drew Doughty is awesome, no question, but how in the hell can he possibly get a nomination over Pronger? Four more points made the difference? ********. Frankly, Green shouldn't even be on there, but because he put up all of those points, he'll get to be in the final 3. What a joke.

Oh well, not a big deal, I'm sure he was right on the outskirts. The whole thing with Green is a little annoying, but I guess they can't overlook his point totals in spite of his less than stellar defensive play. I don't really have any qualms about Doughty and Keith.

It'll probably be surprising if Doughty is not a Norris finalist any time in, oh, I don't know...the next 15-20 years or so.

It really would be just silly to see Green win it.

The only thing wrong about this is Green being nominated. Other than that, I don't have Pronger in my top 5 let alone top 3.

When it all shakes out, it better have Green at the bottom. If Doughty or Keith win, ok that is fine that Pronger wasn't nominated (though it is still a pretty big snub) because I am fine with Doughty or Keith winning it. But if Green wins and Pronger wasn't even in the running, that is just atrocious.

Meh, Pronger has been one of the 5 best defensive D in the league this year and has combined that with good offensive production.

Unfortunately, people will consider guys like Keith/Green to be decent defensively despite an abundance of evidence that shows otherwise. I mean, look at someone like Lidstrom. His offensive point totals went down because of Detroit's poor PP, but if you look at his ES scoring contribution, it's off the chart, Detroit doesn't score when he's not on the ice and he's still great defensively. But voters saw the 49 points and automatically DQ'd him.

Also, that 15 game stretch we had in the middle season (when everybody stunk) didn't help him.

I still would have picked him there over Green, but realistically, it's not a surprise.

Based on those 3, Doughty should win, but I bet they give it to Keith.

My nominees would have been Doughty, Lidstrom, Pronger.

Green wasn't at the Olympics, that alone should have Pronger, Boyle and Weber ahead of him. And that's only Canadians (Lidstrom, Chara too). If Green wasn't good enough for Team Canada, I don't know how he's good enough for the Norris Trophy.

Half the people who vote for NHL trophies are retards.

We just have to accept that and move on.

I've basically come to accept the Flyers don't win NHL awards, the last one I remember us getting was the Jennings and as that's for lowest team goals against no one could really have voted for anyone else.

I think you can make an argument for Chris Pronger getting the Norris but it's obviously not to be. Doesn't take anything away from how good he's been for us.

Biggest travesty since the FSN Pittsburgh no goal screw up.

It was funny watching Timmy P. call BS on McKenzie via twitter though.

I agree with Timmy P. though. This is a snub and a half. Pronger played good enough this year to win it. He should've gotten a nomination even if they had to give to Keith.

I agree 100 percent. Guess people think that +39 makes him a great defensive player.
Jeff Schultz was a +50 on that team for God sakes.

Ugh, it sucks to see Bobby Mac calling Keith one of the NHL's 2 best d-men, might want to check out those GAON/60 vs GAOFF/60 numbers.

Why don't we just take this time to rejoice and bask in the warmth of having reason to have a legitimate argument about a Flyers defender being snubbed as a Norris finalist....a defender who is about to have over $1,250,000 knocked off of his cap hit and be under 5m per.

I mean, I don't think anyone is shocked that Pronger came here and had a fantastic season, but it's still ****ing awesome that he did. And while I still wish we hadn't had to trade as much as we did to get him, and that maybe he had a couple less years on his extension...the trade was most definitely a good one.

What BS? Look like it was the other way around. McKenzie called him out on conspiracy theories. Haven't heard that one before, you'd think Panotch would be a bit more professional about that. But he's the new Dave Spadaro.

This reasserts that Carle held Pronger back, and not Carle excelling under Pronger. It's now no longer an opinion.

Actually, he's right. All might want to stop looking at numbers and just watch the games.

It's a conspiracy now that the NHL is marketing players other than Pronger? Marketable young players in emerging markets like Keith, Doughty, and Green?

There's no conspiracy. It's just business.

He was a top 2 defenseman this year if the other one was Pronger. I've seen quite a few Blackhawks games myself. Keith has been incredible. So has Doughty. Green got in because of numbers, and Lidstrom was very good for a large portion of the year despite some problems.

Pronger should have gotten the nod. There's no question in my mind.

Yeah, you make sure and tell me the next time Keith has a game where he makes the defensive impact that Lidstrom and Pronger do every night.

How many defensemen in this league are aggressively marketed by the league? Green might be one. The Kings didn't have a single nationally televised game on NBC or VS, which used to be required for anyone on the west coast to be nominated, especially since ESPN actually showed a Kings game every once in a while. When NBC shows Blackhawks commercials, there's no Duncan Keith, it's all Toews & Kane.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I have Boyle, Weber, and Lidstrom all ahead of Pronger, and had Keith and Doughty 1-2 basically since Christmas, and for my money Doughty was the best player on the ice in the Olympics.

That's a horrible ****ing snub. However, since the votes are already finished and these are just the top three that came out of this, the people to blame are really the journalists and "experts" who voted in it.

If Green wins it, I'm going to puke.

I could do that, but we'd run the NHL discussion thread over 1000 posts on a monthly basis.

Just because Pronger has a better number on some stat with 8 different letters, doesn't mean as much as you think. The Norris Trophy isn't done on mathematics.
