I mean this in the most respectful way possible. Who the hell are you to say when a player should or should not retire? He's seen specialists who say that him playing is not a danger to his long term health. He absolutely loves playing the game. When he last played he was still a top 2 quarterback in the game. As an ultra competitor he has everything in the world to play for: to prove his old team wrong, to win another championship(s), to continue doing what he's done all his life.

I'll be rooting for the guy whenever he isn't playing against the Cowboys. He's one of my favorite athletes to watch. He and Brady are a step above all the other quarterbacks, Brees and Rodgers included (although Rodgers is sure closing that gap).

The Manning to Modano comparison is just terrible. Modano's play had clearly declined years before the ties were severed. Manning's play hadn't declined. He got injured.

I'll just stop then. I don't really follow football outside of the Texans and college, and you guys know a lot more than I do. I've never been a huge fan of either of the Mannings, Peyton because of how he always beat my favorite teams.

Sorry about anyone I offended. I'm speaking as a Texans fan, not as a football fan, which I am really not that big a fan of.

I almost feel like a Leafs fan right now, and thats never a good sign.

I'm not offended at all. I just don't think it's any of our place to say when a professional athlete in Manning's situation should retire. He's not 40. He's not declining. He had nerve damage that kept him out of football for a year. In that one year his team nearly went winless and will have the top pick in the draft. A team that routinely makes the playoffs with the only difference being who is behind center. Dude earned my respect a long time ago. He's earned the right to do as he pleases as far as I'm concerned.

I would understand your dislike for Eli because of the way him and his dad handled the draft. Peyton on the other hand is classy. It's worth checking out the SNL skit where he's playing football with little kids if you haven't seen it. Funny stuff. Maybe it'll change your opinion on him some.

It's a risk, coming back. One that if I were in his position, I might not take. But obviously, he wants to, and I'll respect that decision.

As a football fan, yes, I absolutely want him to stick around. He's one of the greatest quarterbacks in history, and it'll be a sad day when he retires. As a Texans fan, I want him gone ASAP.

I'm not sure Indy made the right decision, honestly. Sign him for one year, keep him to act as a mentor for Luck and see how well the team does and continue from there. The Broncos have that attitude as well, that it's Manning and only Manning, and I really don't know why. There's not a great reason as to why either team couldnt have both.

I'm just not enough of a football fan to care enough, though. I've got plenty of personal issues with the sport, and I guess I just feel a little neglected coming from a school putting more than 80% of their athletic funds into football while we have to pay for hockey with our own money. I'm sure it's a completely different mentality in other parts of NA, but I'm not there.

I'm getting OT and ranting. I see what you mean. I respect him quite highly as well, and if he wants to keep playing, let him. It's a risk, but one that's his choice to gamble on, not mine.

I used to be a big fan of the Colts and Peyton, I have switched to the Saints now, I really like what Brees has done for the city and the club.

Are the Marlins turning their stadium into a theme park or something? Too many fountain sprays for my liking, and their new jerseys are foul.

Their new jerseys aren't as terrible as I thought they'd be when I first saw the logo. I still don't understand the random yellow thrown in there. They could've easily changed the F in the Florida Marlins logo to an M, then altered the color scheme and it would've looked a lot better. I was a fan of their previous logo and now the marlin part of it is too simple for my liking.

So when is this running gag of "The General" commercials going to end?
I've legitimately seen better local commercials.

The Bobcats are on pace for the 7th worst winning percentage in NBA history.
If they lose out, which is highly unlikely, they will dethrone the Mavericks for the 3rd spot on the list.

first season was clutch, excited for Clash of Kings. Most pumped about Peter Dinklage, he plays an awesome Tyrion.

Anybody else reading the books? I started reading them a couple weeks ago and I'm 4/5 done with Clash and really looking forward to HBOs
Spoil:
I really liked Theon's character to begin but after what he has done in Clash I was shocked. I guess I shouldn't, Martin did in fact kill Eddard Stark aka Sean Bean aka the coolest dude ever.

I read the first 4 before the show came out, was so pumped when I found out HBO picked the series up. I strongly recommend anyone who likes the show read the books, it makes everything even better.
