If Bryzgalov is the starter, I predict another CAN-RUS final.

I hope Frolov makes it as well.

That's a shame, it's not like this'll be his first time either. He did decently when he last participated, even got player of the game in one of the important games.

Is Kovalchuk confirmed?

I know he usually goes, but the fact that he played in the Olympics and playoffs this makes me wonder.

Plus he'll be a free agent this summer, so he might not want to risk getting injured.

Yes, he is.

Russia's group of wingers looks stacked now: Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Radulov, Semin, Frolov, Afinogenov, Kulemin, Sushinsky, Artyukhin, Saprykin. Some will have to get cut. The goaltending is fine, with either one of Bryzgalov or Varlamov. The defense and centremen are a concern though.

He shouldn't have grabbed his blanky and bolted for him 13 games into the season.

That kid is so arrogant it isn't even funny.

Are you forgetting to list Mozyakin as one of the wingers, or is there something I am missing (recent injury)?

Also I think our centers are fine.

Fedorov is still a solid playmaker at age 40, and Tereschenko is a good #2 for this team. Remember, it's only the WC, not the SCF or Olympic games, so the level is a little bit lower.

Russia is going to kick butt, and will be as exciting as ever!

Russia looks pretty darn scary .. they're my pick for the gold medal. Third straight, if I'm not mistaken?

This isn't even fair. All our superstars are staying home while all of Russias are going to play lol Russia will win the gold medal against Canada again. 3rd straight.

I think the roster will be something like this:

Kovalchuk-Tereschenko-Radulov
Ovechkin-Fedorov-Semin
Mozyakin-Gorovikov-Sushinsky
Frolov-Svitov-Afinogenov
(Vik.Kozlov, Anisimov, Kulemin, Lisin, Artuykhin)

Grebeshkov-Nikulin
Kulikov-Atyushov
Kalinin-Denisov
Ryasensky-Belov
(Korneev-Kulyash)

Varlamov-Eremenko-Koshechkin-Khudobin
(IMHO I prefer Koshechkin, but couch is Bykov so Varlamov-Eremenko will play)

Bykov believes in some players such Vik.Kozlov, Korneev, Kulyash. I don't think they can do any good. I wish Petr Schastlivy could be in the roster as 13th forward. He can play in the center if needed.

And defence still weak. What about Vishnevsky, Proshkin, Tverdovsky?
Know nothing about Grebeshkov. How good is he now?

I'm a little surprised that Ovechkin decided to participate after a horribly Olympics and playoffs. The WC are almost like a no win situation for him. Especially with regards to the North American media. If Russia doesn't win gold he will be mocked. If Russia does win gold he will be mocked.

Of course there is no denying his patriotism.

I think any normal person would prioritize the national team over what some North American media is going to think.

This looks like the team to beat, Im hoping all the youth on canada makes them fast and hungry to win tho, hopefully see you guys in the finals.

3rd times gotta be a charm for OV this year after being on 2 previous "teams to beat" in regards to russia and washington
