tremblay is probably out too, stevens might be behind the bench, though we dont need 2 defenseman coaches

See, Lou didn't come out and fire him. He let Lemaire "retire" instead. I'm surprised he announced it so quick too.

You know he was bad when the most senior level headed posters are celebrating in here.

Guess Lou was saving face.

Totally pathetic....It would be a miracle not only for this team to get past the first round but have a coach that lasts more than 2 years!!!

That's how Lou operates.

Now I'm interested to see who the new coach will be. There is hope for next season.

The fact that he is "staying within the organization" means that he was fired in reality. That means they are still paying him, they wouldn't do that if he really re-signed or retired.

In my mind, this confirms that the jelly throwing rant was about coaching (as we all suspected)

just 2 years ago everybody was calling for johnny mac to be fired because how bad our offense was and our pp and noone wanted him to be head coach when we were looking for a coach before sutter and noone wanted him as coach when we were looking for a coach before lemaire, but now people want him because the lowell devils made the playoffs

I get the feeling that this is one of those handshake deals like with Sutter. He agreed to let Sutter go after a couple of seasons if he wasn't successful and wanted to back home. I think with Lemaire, there was a handshake that he'd do his best to give him a great team to win and if it didn't, Lemaire would retire, stay on as a consultant, and his right hand man (the only other person Lemaire brought with him) would become his successor. I think the plan all along was to give Tremblay an opportunity to become an NHL head coach.

yep yep. Its easy to say, but I would have liked Dave Tipett. Dallas was always a similar team to NJ. Look what he has done with Phoenix. ...it would be a bit of boring hockey, but hey we're used to that right

Only downside is that players gotta learn from another coach.

I don't think it's JMac's time yet as NHL coach. He spent 1 year in the AHL, yes Lowell did make the playoffs but they also were knocked out of it in the first round. IMO, 1 yr coaching experience in the AHL isn't enough to be brought up to be an NHL coach.

I doubt we see Mario Trembly within several hundred miles of the NJ Devils next year.
