We've been missing real nasty in our lineup for a while, I think. I'm pleased. A Jean-Luc replacement?

Nah, this guy can actually handle the puck while skating I guess.

Ha, wasn't talking about hockey skills so much. I just don't think many people in the league are actually afraid of Boll or Dorsett. I'd be afraid knowing this guy might break my knee when he's on the ice.

Just having a little JLGP funtime, since you brought him up.

Hell, I'm game! Give him a look. He could always end up in Springfield if they sign him to a 2-way, and could be a good depth guy. Let's wait and see if this happens.

Oh, I understand. I miss the big fella. He sat behind one of my friends in a class working toward a Realtor's license, I guess he's still in Columbus somewhere. I think it was Columbus State, but I'm not positive.

I highly doubt that he's going to go from playing on the SEL champion team in his native Sweden to riding the bus back and forth from Massachusetts to Ohio.

My guess is he would bolt for Europe if he's not playing in the NHL full-time.

I don't understand the comparison really, unless you're not comparing the players themselves at all. If you look "One-trick-pony" up in the dictionary, there's a picture of Balastik. I think this Thorny dude can offer more than a quick wrister.

So be it. I wouldn't sign him to a one-way, though. Then, if he doesn't pan out, we are stuck with him. If we sign him to a 2-way, and he is assigned to Springfield and doesn't want to go................bye, bye. No harm, no foul, and we aren't stuck with a bad contract.

Depends on the price, for me. I definitely see him as being an upgrade over Boll, but that says less about Thorny and more about Boll.

Uh, that is incorrect. He says, "Yes, it's correct that Columbus wants to sign a contract with me."

His agents says, "We'll sit down with Columbus after the season for negotiations."
Porcelain agrees with you.

Per lots of emails today ... the #CBJ have an interest in SWE LW Martin Thornberg, but no negotiations have yet taken place.

Well here's the beautiful thing - he's Swedish. Even if he doesn't want to play for Springfield, the NHL and the Swedish league have come to terms on a transfer agreement I believe. So we really have nothing to lose.

Knowing nothing about this guy other than his name sounds like one of the dwarfs from the Hobbit book is reason enough to bring him in for a look.

The biggest moron in the Swedish Elite League.
All he ever does is diving and doing his kneeings, but never get a penalty for it.

Gee, the hockey db has thornberg at 5'11" and 172 lbs. Now attitude I like, but he's not going to put fear of god into anyone. Might make a decent Dorsett clone though, and if the Jackets get that they'll take it.

You and your factual translation aren't welcome here.

We want Mo' Swedes.

In fact, let's sign their whole team. Best Hockey-Sounding Names Ever http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/csl.php?tid=1433

Guy sounds dirty so far. There are players you love having on your team that are agitators, and players you can't stand having on your team because they are dirty little pukes. From the videos and comments from the [Big] Swedes here, it sounds like he's the latter. But hey, I always give the player a chance.

It's funny how one google translation can lead people to believe that...

a. He's signed
b. He's guaranteed a spot on the Jackets if he does sign
c. This is the Jackets big move for the summer

seriously guys, you need to take a step back and realize there isn't anyone good to sign right now in the first place.

Smells a lot like the Daniel Steiner move from last fall. We'll see what shakes out in camp, if he's there at all. Sounds like a guy who can make camp interesting, if nothing else.
