Wings future

Although big changes IMO should be made I don't see a revolution in the Wings. I think they will probably keep the veteran profile next season to, they really have no other option.
I do see some changes this summer though;
*Chelios won't be given a new contract, unless he accepts a major salary dump.
*The same with Shanny, I see him in Toronto or NYR
*Hasek is history
*Hull is history, will be signed in March by NJ or Toronto
*Yzerman will be back
*Draper will be back
*Schneider will be back
*Steve Thomas is gone
*Boyd Devereaux is gone, probably going to Europe
*Stefan Liv will be better than both Joseph and Legace
*Zetterberg and Datsiuk along with Lang will be the top forwards
*Kronwall, Hudler and Grigorenko are braking in to the roster
*Jamie Rivers SHOULD be getten rid of ASAP
*A big name will be signed. The Wings need a gritty forward, but I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Selšnne. I'd like to see Mike Ricci and K. Primaeu or Eric Lindros
*Lewis will be fired. Raplaced by.. someone.. I'd like to see Larionov behind the bench, as a assistant coach or maybe even as head. He knows the game and players. No one could be better for the job than him.

I'd love to have Jamie Rivers back. He filled in great when we needed him. I dont understand why he needs to be "rid of ASAP"

The Wings need a gritty forward, and you put Selanne's name?! :lol Keith Primeau wont be back, he and the Wings parted on bad terms.

Wing need a fast, gritty forward who will work in corners. Selanne wont be a wing, neither will Primeau. 2 guys id like to see are Bruins Glen Murry and Brian Rolston. They'd be good Hull and Shanahan replacements. More youth and speed.

Anyway, id like to see rivers back ONLY as a 7th dman. Kronwall deserves a chance now IMHO. Kronwall is exactly what we lack. We need more youth on the blueline who will skate fast like he does, play a physical game, and score, Kronwall is that. Calgary had a lot of young speedsters who knew how to beat the old guys like chelios, hatcher and sometimes schneider. Kronwall could stay with them easily and sooner or later the kid needs to gain experience, just play him ASAP

wing's need to rebuild. they've had their success, now shanahan, Hull, Yzerman may not even play in this league again. Lidstrom may go back to europe, whatever his contract says.

I never said that Selanne has grit, just that I think there is a chance he'll be signed. I do think that Selanne would be a descent replacement for Hull, if they can get him for a reasonable price.
I also agree that the chance of getting Primeau is slim, he is the Philly captain and they will probably want to keep him.

Shanny and Draper both could be Panthers next year. Go to the Panthers board and there is a link in a thread called well...

I could see Lindros, but never would have thought Kariya. Just curious on your thinking on that one.

I agree, I've been extremely impressed with what I've seen from him so far. He's young, cheap, he hits, and I don't remember any glaring defensive mistakes from him. I think Lewis waited way too long this year to play him in place of Fischer.

Look Wings fans. Hull is done. And even if Shanny comes back, he's no longer a primetime scorer.
We need a scoring Winger and a role playing winger.
Use money saved on Schneider/Hull/Shanny to sign Kovalev. Kovalev is a MUST.
Anyone who thinks Ray Whitney is going to be our scoring Winger is in for a surprise.
Then we go out and sign a speedy/gritty role playing winger.

Better idea in my opinion would be to get guys like Ricci, Scatchard, Roberts. Gritty , tough F.

Kovalev? I think that there are other more consistant players in the NHL who could add scoring. Maybe they wouldn't have Kovalev's innate talents, but I think Detriot would be better off trying to find someone younger and less expensive.

First off:
Hasek is already history.
Schiender won't be back after disappearing again in the playoffs
Devereaux will be in Grand Rapids
You might be right about Liv, Kronwall, Hudler, and Grigorenko. There is some hope!
Rivers will be back (G Rapids and injury callups)
K Primeau a Wing again, I doubt it. Please NO SELANNE!!!

Gary Roberts might be a nice fit with the Wings, if the rumors that he may leave Toronto due to a simmering feud with Quinn are to be believed.
