I was noticing his lack of playing time as well. Anyone really know why thats been? He's really probably as good as most players on that team. But the only players I ever see on the ice are Stamkos, Whitney, Erble and Taveres....what gives?

The 2nd period was penalties galore. Duchene doesn't get any special teams minutes so he only played like 2 shifts in the 2nd. It was only until the 3rd when they needed to score that guys like Eberle and Duchene were used, but by then it was too late. Our PK already lost the game for Canada at that point.

I didn't include it on the video, but the commentators where saying how good Duchene has played and that this could be the only chance he plays for Canada considering the way Colorado played this year. Also that he will be in consideration for the Olympic team in 2014.

Duchene was pretty good from what I could see but still had the same problems as he did with the Avs towards the end of the season in that he has a hard time creating chances and mostly get pushed to the outside.

What was positive is that he shot more than I expected and scoring goals from range will help his confidence going forward.

Any video of Duchenes goal late? I turned the channel bc the game was over...but would still like to see it.

He played good in the tourney, better than he did even during the playoffs. He did shoot more, and still had some issues with being too cute. He's learning though, and it shows. I was disappointed with how he was used on the team as well...he seemed to be getting not alot of ice time, and rarely saw PP time, but when he was out there he was making sure he was taking the puck to the net.

According to the IIHF site, Duchene didn't get that much less ice time than most of the players. Just looks like they roleld four lines, to get a lot of the youngsters ice time.

He finished with 4 goals, and 3 assists, for 7 points in 7 games, which was tied for second on the team with Tavares (7 goals 0 assists) and behind only Ray Whitney with 8 points.

He also averaged 15:15 of ice time, which was third among forwards behind Perry (18:06), Stamkos (16:16) and Tavares (15:52).

Cumiskey finished with 3 assists in 7 games, and averaged 13:58, which was the least time of all defenseman.

Galiardi finished with 3 assists in 6 games for the US, and averaged 17:14 in ice time, which was 4th among forwards behind Dubinsky, Okposo, and Oshie.

Regardless how the ice time evened out over the tournament I still don't think Duchene was used right by MacTavish. Shocking I know

At the beginning of the tournament Tavares-Duchene-Whitney had pretty good chemistry and were creating a lot of chances. After Stamkos went down it looked like (I wasn't able to watch every game) Tavares went up to the 1st line and I didn't see him with Duchene too much after that. For a team that struggled to score you would think you would try to take advantage of good chemistry in a short tournament. And I saw a couple times today where Duchene didn't even make it on the second PP unit.

iirc MacTavish was the last NHL player who did not wear a helmet. Coincidence? You decide.

Yeah I loved that part of the broadcast, and Duchene got a ton of love throughout the entire tournament. I believe he was featured on TSN at least once as well talking about his competitiveness and friendship with JT. It was a good watch.

After watching him at the WC's I wouldn't mind the Avs signing Whitney at all.

I would be all for this (if the price was right). Wondering what sort of a contract he might command.

it seems to be more about term than money from reports. kind of a lappy situation -- he wants 3 years, carolina won't do more than 1-2. i'd be scared of 3 years too.
