That is a big risk for Frolov, I think that other teams will be more desperate for a LW that has 30+ goal potential. Maybe Dallas or Anaheim?
Not too sure about that. It might see a hit on the PP side but for the most part his 5 on 5 would most likely stay the same. Murray relied on Handzus- Frolov- Simmonds for a good portion each game at 5 on 5. It would mostly be whoever was on the 4th that lost time.

The Kings need an elite scoring winger, and one, preferably two, top 6 defenseman.

With those being priorities, I don't see how we'll have the CAP space to sign Frolov.

At this point he is a bottom six forward who may put up points every now and then. We have waited for years for his "breakout" season and it just has not happened.

Smyth is slow too, but Smyth isn't UFA.

I think Frolov is a very effective player when he plays with a center or opposite wing that has a shoot first metallity. He creates a lot of open space with his puck possession and is a good passer.

I wouldn't pay him more than a cap hit of $3.75M though. I would love to see what he could do playing with Marleau.

The Times says the rumor is he is looking for $5 million per year. ESPN gave its opinion saying that at that amount, he will probably be in the KHL.

With the lack of impact free agents this summer Frolov is hitting the market at the right time. Statistically he had a pretty poor season but as King fans we know his role was rather unique, bouncing around from line to line. If another NHL team signs him they probably will be signing him as their #1 LW, which he is not in LA. I don't see any reason why he won't be able to get 4 years 20 million dollars and it won't be from the Kings. There will be a number of NHL teams that get shut out of free agency, after the top guys go there really isn't much left and you don't build a team by signing players to your bottom 6. Detroit will have money to spend, if they don't get Kovalchuk they'll get Frolov or whoever else they want like every summer.

ESPN made a good point. Frolov is the 2nd best LW in the FA class. Other than Fro and Kovi, all other free agent LW's are well into their mid 30's. Being that LW is a hard position to fill with quality players, he may have a pretty big market for his services.

Way to believe the Times. Also way to discount that he can score 30+ goals has an underrated 2 way game to go along with those puck possession skills. Dont be surprised if gets that money from another team then goes out and pots 30+ goals for another team wheres hes not being asked to play a shutdown role.

Not that I advocate giving Frolov 5M, but that would probably be a better allocation of CAP space than Williams at 3.5M.

I'm thinking majority of kings fans may prefer Modin for a lot less. I know he's been injury prone but he looked ok in games he played with the kings. Personally, I don't care either ways, just pointing out that Modin may be a better fit than Frolov.

He's not gonna score 30g again if he keeps thinking the only way to do it is with a wrap around.

I'm sure playing on the 3rd line and given a shutdown role didn't help.

SRSLY BRO, You nailed it . . ******

I don't like Frolov because he's supposed to be a shooter, yet does ineffective wraparounds, fails miserably on shot outs and breakaways and half ***** getting to the puck. When he gets to the puck, yes, his puck possession skills are second to none . . but that's about it. His playoff stint was less then lackluster. . He will be easily replaced.

But there's hope for you Frolov loverboys, he'll play on a team he actually likes playing on and thrive (I.E. Detroit). Frolov ISN'T going to take his game to the next level on this team.

I know most of you won't agree with me but you never agreed with me in how I see the Kings (I.E. lack of grit, Brown's amazing dives and the mental side of the game) so it will be nothing new.

FYI, I've never been "fickle" about Frolov, I wanted him traded 2 seasons ago, just like I've never been "fickle" about Dustin Brown.
