We suck again

Continue here. I can't find the clip from Major League (or 2, or whatever it was), so here's the one from waterboy.

Flash sit.
Walker play.
Get motivated.
Can't even imagine the crowd reaction if they somehow manage to lose Wednesday night.
Caps 4-1.

How are they going to fix Semin's shot? Currently they're both inaccurate and lack that "oomph" also.

They're still not distributing and creating offense all that well when they are trying in this series. It's a lot of solo efforts, which doesn't require a terribly cerebral approach to the game or make it too difficult for a goaltender that's just plain locked into the game (especially when coupled with a lack of traffic in front of him). Backstrom and at times Ovechkin are seemingly the lone exceptions to this when it comes to poise and using teammates effectively. That and Carlson's eager shot from the point have been the most effective weapons in this series.

It's not altogether unlike what they've been like against stronger team defenses in the regular season in the past. A lot of individual stuff but not a lot of system-created offense in those situations, which may be because they have pretty close to free reign to do whatever they feel like in the offensive zone as long as the third man high is responsible defensively. That game plan gets stale in those situations and there's never been a real coherent (or plainly executed) Plan B.

Boudreau is very good at establishing high expectations and getting players to believe in themselves. Those were absolutely necessary traits for a young team to have in order to make strides developmentally...and they have. Yet there's more to becoming Cup-worthy than self-belief--indeed too much self-belief tends to be just as dangerous as not enough--and any sort of notion that shortcuts are tolerable along the way needs to go out the window.

Going back to what works... no more lolcats avatar. No more ****ing joking around. It's all about grit and guts and winning game 7. The spirit of Dale is needed.

That and a little help from previous seasons:

Communique to U.S. Customs Officers. One Jaroslav Halak will be attempting to enter the U.S. via a flight from Montreal, Canada within the next 48 hours. He will be in possession of a prohibited item, a large horse shoe which he has secreted up his hind parts. Please remove said item and destroy.

Thanking you in advance, T. Leonis

as someone who didn't see the game, can someone tell me how the caps played. i saw they had something like 54 shots, so i can assume this game was just stolen by halak?

Bad bounces, Caps 1:15 5 on 3 with one shot from the point, and 6 PPs. Shot count not quite indicative of the quality of chances. Halak was good, but had pretty good line of vision most of the time.

This team doesn't deserve to win this series.

Honestly if we lose this will rank up there with the most heartbreaking Caps loss ever. A couple of those blown 3-1s to the Pens in the 90's were brutal, but they were the Pens and were better than us. I remember losing to the Rags in '86, but we didn't blow a 3-1 series lead. I'm not sure how I'll concentrate at work these next couple days and beyond.

Now, listen. I've been a long time Bruce fan. I think he turned this franchise around, not OV. I think he's a brilliant hockey mind, and a great players coach. That said...

Long stretches of unmotivated play(not this game), Flash getting more ice time than Fehr, Green getting top minutes when he clearly isn't our best D-man(Carlson). I don't think any of these things are up for debate, and they are all coaching decisions. It's like he refuses to get away from what's worked for him in the past, whether that means sink or swim.

Q: Do you feel any more ready for this game 7 than the last 3-3 series?

Boudreau: "Well, the last four series right now think we've been to game 7, so this is our fifth series, or fourth, whatever.

"I don't know how to answer that. I mean, am I any more ready? We're gonna be as ready, we've been through it. I mean, how do I answer it? Help me out here. How do you answer that question? What do you do to get more ready? You don't know."
I'm a lot more confident now...

I will ask this again. What do you see in the product that says he's a brilliant hockey mind. Convince me.

Adopting a song by one of the worst bands in the history of modern music definitely seems like a great idea.
