I think Bettman and Swartzwelder need a 'cuddling session':

http://communities.canada.com/THEPRO...ith-clark.aspx

Quote:
Alain Vigneault doesn't pretend to understand goaltenders. After all, he was an NHL defenceman during his brief playing career. So, when asked Wednesday why Roberto Luongo opted to skip the team practice in favour of an on-ice session with consultant Ian Clark, the Vancouver Canucks coach paused and then offered up this beauty.

"It's was more of a battle-drill day on the ice and I thought he [Clark] would get more out of Roberto doing a one-on-one cuddling session," said Vigneault.

Hopefully Luongo's overwhelming desire for redemption doesn't work against him.

I guess I'm pulling for the Nucks now, cuz I know what its like when a team hasnt it won in a while...check that in their history. Plus Pavel Bure was one of my favorite player of all time (love that 94 team that almost took it to the Rangers).

If the Nucks can somehow survive Chicago, I think they'll win the Cup. They can handle the Sharks, Wings, and any of the remaining b**tches from the East (Just the thought of them smacking the Pens or Habs around warms my heart )

From Washington with Love...Go 'Nucks

Considering that the second line was fairly unnoticable in the series vs LA, I could see AV attempting to reunite the speedy Raymond - Kesler - Grabner line to help counter the speed of the Hawks.

I do think that the Raymond - Kesler - Burrows line did act as a fairly effective checking line though, so maybe it will be kept together depending on the situation.

Also, assuming Burrows doesn't fine his stride, I think he would still provide a lot in a grittier third line position. He could get back to basics, doing what he does best: being an energy player.
And while both Bernier and Hansen played quite well in the first series, a line of Bernier - Rypien - Hansen could counter Chicago's fourth line well.

A lot of this is speculation though: if Grabner or Samuelsson struggles, or if Burrows suddenly goes on a tear, there could be a very different picture.
The bolded is a great point! With his recent goal scoring prowess, people seem to forget how Burrows first made his name in this league. He has lots more to give than just scoring and if Chicago starts lighting it up, Burrows' gritty, defensive game will be needed.

Although, IMO, he's not that effective offensively with Kesler, I guess I like him on Kesler's wing as a checking unit. Otherwise, if he's not skating with the Sedins, I think he'd be great in the 3rd line LW position with Wellwood.

I thought this was quite funny as well when no one could figure out exactly when the series with the Hawks might begin.

"I gave you some bad information yesterday about the series starting Friday," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault told reporters Tuesday. "We're not quite sure anymore, so the league will let us know here in the next little while. I think it's Friday or Saturday. Or Thursday."

You think this is bad? Expect 5-6pm starts if we play and eastern time team.

It's like rain on your wedding day or a free ride when you've already paid.

EDIT: The 5pm start on Saturday sucks harder than Jenna Jameson riding a vacuum at an orgy. I don't get off work 'till 6.

I don't even think I could get it on the radio if I tried. We run one of those Sirius XM receivers and I have no idea how to get AM/FM on it. Tried that once during the Olympics (CAN/RUS) and failed miserably. Looks like I'm stuck with acoustic singer-songwriter stuff.

On a somewhat related note (though still OT), being 3 hours early for a flight is standard, right?

I have a flight that leaves at 1150 PM on Saturday . I also have a habit of watching all post-game shows, so it'll be hard for me to leave before watching that too.

Going to be following this series and the GDT meltdowns/rationalizations from sunny Manila, Philippines (all through May, at least)!

On a side note: Anyone vacationing there over May can feel free to message me about watching the Canucks at some bar! You might even spot me in the crowd wearing a Kesler 3rd.

Isn't the home team supposed to have home ice advantage?
When it comes to tv ratings I can understand why they would change it but I still don't like it.

Not if Tito Ortiz has anything to say about it.

If RJ is good to go in Game 1, I see the lines shaking down similarly to how they ended the last series;

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Samuelsson
Raymond - Kesler - Burrows
Wellwood - Demitra - Bernier
Hansen - Johnson - Rypien/Glass/Grabner

A big key will be getting more production out of the second unit. Kesler is a point a game, but Burrows and Raymond have 1 point apiece. The third line was able to get some production in the 1st round, but we need everyone clicking.

I think Johnson is missed more than we realize. Not only with the PK, where he had a terrible year, but seemed to improve toward the end and is at the very least a stabilizing presence. Also, I think that AV's hesitation to put the 4th line out on the ice is that he doesn't have a reliable center to put out there with them. Obviously a guy like Grabner isn't the ideal winger for RJ, but if we play Grabner I'd like to see him get some ice time, and that's more likely with someone to center the 4th line.

I know it's a little ridiculous, but if Burrows continues to struggle and Grabner steps up, let's even out our bad fourth line with Chicago's awesome one.

Sedin - Sedin - Samuelsson
Raymond - Kesler - Grabner/Burrows
Demitra - Wellwood - Bernier
Burrows/Grabner - Johnson - Hansen

Or was his absence the driving force behind the Canucks having their most dominant 5 on 5 playoff performance in franchise history through the 1st round? The top 3 lines are excellent at even strength and the 4th line was one of the worst even strength lines in the NHL this season. IMO the 4th lines lack of icetime is what made the Canucks such a juggernaut during 5 on 5 play.

Really not looking forward to Ryan Johnson's return. The last thing the Canucks need is Johnson returning early from injury and playing at 75%.
