Didn't our avatars cause a rule clarification cause they were essentially babe avatars?

But we'll see about extension. Deano's been touting that he's got the green light to go after something big for this team. Lets see how big before extension.

... Snow improved the Islanders from 36-40-6 to 40-30-12 in his first season as GM, and they made the playoffs and won a game in them that season.

Pleau took over a Blues' team that had finished 36-35-11 and 32-34-16 its previous two seasons, and immediately had them winning 40+ games 5 out of the next 6 seasons with plenty of playoff victories.

Point taken with Waddell; I should have clarified with "non-expansion team GM" because it's clear that Lombardi didn't have to build a team from scratch like Waddell did.

Lombardi took over a Kings' team which had missed the playoffs by six points -- which had tradeable veteran assets on its roster, young players like Frolov and Brown, as well as guys like Kopitar and Quick in its system -- not an expansion team by any means. He then immediately "produced" two of the six worst seasons in team history, and since it's the Kings' history we're talking about here, that's saying something. With what he's had to work with and given the depths the team had to sink in order for him to get what he wanted in the draft, two playoff victories in four seasons is not an impressive record. In fact, it's quite unimpressive.

There is a massive difference between rebuilding a team into a legitimate cup contender that can be a threat for years, and having a team that year in year out, competes for the bottom 2 seeds in the playoffs while occasionaly pulling off an upset in the first round to get to the 2nd, but never threatening the cup
