San Jose? BRING EM ON!!!!

Bunch of losers who don't have what it takes to take it to the next level. Look at the pt totals for the top guys. You tell me who is the group of winners and who are the perennial losers. Thornton-Heatley-Marleau. Gimmie a break.

Detroit in 6.

I have so much faith in their top line's inability to score big goals, that I would play Zetterberg's line against their 2nd line.

I'm just trying to figure out what those "tools" are. San Jose has a pretty mediocre back end that really lacks foot speed outside of Boyle. Nabby runs hot and cold, and offensively they are similar to the Wings (when healthy) with a reliance on their top 6 and odd contribution from an energy guy. The Sharks are a damn good team, but some of you talk as if this team has significant advantages over Detroit. They don't.

Can anyone tell me if Brad May is up with the team, even if he hasn't been playing?

PS - I'm not a Sharks fan :p

Getting some proper rest is crucial. Wings need to recover and get some downtime cuz they will need it.

Can any RW fans say what the likely injuries are currently to you guys? Also if anyone is playing obviously hurt?

Also, I only watched highlights of your series, but how was Phx able to do score so many points on you guys? Considering their only "stud" is probably Wolski and Doan was out for the last few games, I'm surprised they even scored that many before game 7.

On our end:
Heater suffered some leg problem but looks to get better, almost 100% by start, 4th liner Ortey is still out, and Wallin is still out. 5th liner Staubitz is out with some injury. Marleau has a severe case postseasonsuckitis but it might clear away 2nd round.

As far as injuries go I don't think there's anything serious yet. But it'll come sooner or later.

Yeah PHX found a way to score on the Wings, especially on the power play. I think a major part of that is youth. Of course we have Jimmy who's a rookie but we also got Helm, Eaves and Miller, all of which aren't used to being the #1, 2 and 3 PK forwards. They're still in a growth process as far as being smart on the PK in a playoff type atmosphere. They were awesome in the regular season and now I think they're still trying to find a way to be consistent when it comes to playoff type games.

And that's just the PHX power play which wasn't all that good in the regular season. The Sharks may have something to exploit in that regard.

Wings in 5 or 6.

Now the big question... which Joe does Babcock assign to Z?

Where is Detorit in 3?

Thornton, Nabokov and Marleau choked in the 1st round and their depth guys won them the series. That should be a good sign for the Wings. Goaltending will mean a lot in the series, obviously as it always does in the playoffs. We got our big guns going so I think right now we are the favourite to win the series despite the standings.

Serious question: of Detroit's last 12 playoff rounds (07, 08, 09 and this year) how many have you predicted they would win?

Sharks are gonna be different this time around. They have few guys Wings will have trouble containing. Only reason they had trouble against Avs was because of Andersson.. and Nabokov somewhat failiing. I expect Wings to be dominated time to time and actually would be pleasantly surprised if Wings come out with 4th win.

IMO Wings might need to pull out another miracle like 3 years ago.

The question is. Can they use them?

In the first round I think it was Thornton and Marleau or someone they combined for..............big 0 goals which could be a good sign for us that they are slumping. Just watch out for there secondary scoring in Pavelski who I actually really like after the Olympics. Didn't know much about him before.

I could see either team win this series. But the Wings just throttled (in terms of goal scoring) the best defensive team in the conference - albeit without their captain. Detroit's also played San Jose tough both this season and in past seasons. So I picked the Wings in 6. The big concern is the Sharks have a ton of firepower so we'll see how Detroit does in their attempts to shut them down. It was good to see Jimmy Howard shut the door last night.

The fewer afternoon games the better.

Hell I don't know, I'd have to dig it up. I picked the Wings over the Yotes in six, so that's one.

Goaltending and PK will be huge against SJ. If we can get our PK airtight, then our forwards can pepper Nabokov like they did Bryz last night.

Make no mistake, the Wings love playing the Sharks. It's one of those matchups where the opponent just works right into your gameplan.

But on the other hand, this is a great opportunity for San Jose and the type of obstacle that can propel a team from being chokers to sometimes champions. Will that happen? I'm not so sure.

If the Sharks go the Sharks with Nabokov going Nabokov it could be an less taxing series, but every year people are waiting for them to break through.

We all know the Wings will be ready, Babcock and company will have a good gameplan and I can only imagine the Wings building up even more momentum like they usually do after a tough fought 1st round.

I keep seeing you all say that Nabokov was bad in the 1st round. Besides game 2, he was nails... just about the the only goals that got past him otherwise were from blake or boyle

Edit: And thornton was a beast during the series, but didn't show up on the scoreboard. But he was moving the puck well, moving his legs and finishing his checks.
