I've been saying for a long time that Carl Hagelin is a lock to be a third liner in the league with a real chance to develop into a second liner. He's a solid prospect, largely unheralded around here until his name was mentioned as a potential Hobey Baker finalist.

And our one 2007 pick who hasnt turned into a complete disaster already.

I remember people were drooling over the Lafleur pick and im left thinking "the ****?"

Max Campbell regressed at West Michigan, I dunno if we even have his rights, Skokan is in Europe and Hobbs is a 4th line center in the NCAA

The Lafleur pick is horrible in retrospect. Even when the pick was made, I remember people saying there were better goalie prospects on the board.

Campbell sucks. A PP specialist who wasn't even good at that last year. Hobbs sucks too.

Skokan had a chance to be a bottom six guy, but I doubt he'll ever come back.

We own Campbell's rights, but I can't see the Rangers offering him a contract. He had a really down year last year and was never more than PP specialist. Maybe he gets an AHL contract.

Who? I remember a decent amount of outrage over that pick, to be honest. Maybe I'm way off base.

I posted on a different board at that time. Maybe folks are smarter here.

I thought wrong, actually. Even I was not really that much against it. Reasoned he had enough potential and was just raw. LOL.

The Rangers haven't signed any of their 2009 draft picks. Ethan Werek. Ryan Bourque. Roman Horak. Scott Stajcer. Not including Daniel Maggio. Mikhail Pashnin has the KHL commitment.

Was looking at Boston College. They are returning both goalies(Muse and Milner). 4 defensemen(Domoulin,Samuelsson,Cross and Wey) who are NHL draft picks. Lost Sneep to graduation. Lost 3 forwards to graduation. Smith signed with Hawks.Lombardi signed an AHL deal with Jersey. Price is the other forward. All of their forwards plus Kevin Hayes. That team is going to repeat.

Just 2 NCAA players to follow this fall and winter. Kreider and Hagelin. The Wisconsin guys turned pro. That team is going to suck balls. Jordy Murray may leave school to play pro hockey in Europe. Jake Gardiner flirted with turning pro but he is staying in school. They lost soo much. Couldn't happen to a better fan base.

Rangers should trade Hobbs to Ottawa. Tim Murray selected Hobbs. Murray was the Rangers asst director of player personnel from 2005-2007. He is close to the Hobbs family. Murray took Hobbs as like a favor to the family. Murray is now the Sens AGM working for his uncle Bryan.

I thought a lot of people here hated the pick. We knew the Rangers were going to draft a goalie, but, wanted to wait until later in the draft. I wanted Maxim Mayorov at that point.

Something to remember - there was some talk the the Rangers had their eyes on three players, (one of which I believe was Brett MacLean, who was taken earlier by Phoenix). It was rumored that Sather offered the remaining Ranger draft picks in 2007 to Phoenix, in order to move up and get one of those three players.

I think the feeling was that Benoit Allaire could make him into something. I also thought that Benoit loved this kid and saw great potential.

That's what I remembered as well. But to be fair, it's not as if the other goalies from that draft class are looking that great.

No Saad in the top 10? Courturier at 3? That's going to change very quickly.

Agreed, if Murphy is the top pick I'll buy all of you season tickets(to the Isles home games)

Western NY's Adam Clendening is my sleeper top 10 pick in 2011, that kid is a fantastic passer and PP Dman on the back end and I expect a big year from him at BU and in Buffalo at the WJC's.

Right now he would be my choice as well. He is going to explode offensively this year.

No surprise Kreider and Bourque both on the 2010 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp Roster.

He plays a tough game as well and plays in the OHL, which would fit the mold for the kind of player the rangers seem to be going for these days

Hagelin can absolutely motor. The puck also always finds a way onto his stick. IMHO, he'd benefit the team more as trade bait than being a bottom-6 forward.

He has practically no value until he proves his worth in the NHL, so I'd rather keep him than get a 3rd round pick as the maximum in return.

Where is Stepan's brother going to go in next years draft as of right now? 3rd round? Hoping the Rangers can grab him with their second 2nd rounder.
