Wow, that top line/d pairing is going to own the tournament.

pretty much my thoughts...though i dont like stacking 1 line and 1 pairing that way in a short tournament...other lines can get abused that way...unless Gernander plans on going with the Torts style of playing 1 line and 1 pair significantly more than others.

I'd kinda like to see Thomas on the rights side of that top line. Let Bourque center line 2.

Inferno, I think the tournament is less about the overall results and more about the teams being able to evaluate their prospects in a competitive environment... They want to see players skating with fellow Rangers they are likely to see action with in the future... To spread out our best prospects among invitees and other prospects who they likely won't ever play together with, wouldn't make much sense from an organizational perspective...

thats actually a really good point...not sure why i didnt think of it that way lol.

McIlrath says he's been in contact with the Rangers since being drafted and they've explained what they like about him, and what they want to see out of him.

"Hard physical D-men that's what they're looking for, that's what they're missing in New York. I think I can bring that level of toughness, also my two way game is getting better and they're happy and looking forward to that," said McIlrath.

Assistant GM Jim Schoenfeld, who said the team was “deeper in all positions” than last year’s squad, said that teams often match up their best prospects against each other to gauge readiness, so I have a feeling that the Evgeny Grachev-Derek Stepan-Ryan Bourque trio will see plenty of ice time. And possibly the pairing of Ryan McDonagh and this summer’s first-round pick, Dylan McIlrath.

The other lines: Ethan Werek-Brendan Shinnimin-Randy McNaught; Jason Wilson-Roman Horak-Christian Thomas; tryout Cs Jason Bast and Kelsey Tessier alternated between LW Andrew Yogan and RW Chris McKelvie. The hard-nosed Werek is a center, so again, things may be shuffled.

Duos on the blueline: Sam Klassen/Tomas Kundratek; Jyri Niemi/Daniel Maggio; Lee Baldwin/Brandon Manning….

Columbus center Ryan Johansen, Tampa Bay winger Brett Connolly, Carolina center Jeff Skinner, New York Rangers defenseman Dylan McIlrath and Dallas goalie Jack Campbell will be among the marquee players looking to showcase their skills in this tournament, which culminates with the championship game Wednesday evening.

"It's a great tournament," Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland said. "I would venture to say there's 70 to 100 players in the NHL who played in this tournament. (Pavel) Datsyuk was here, (Henrik) Zetterberg was here, (Jiri) Fischer was here. (Niklas) Kronwall was here. (Valtteri) Filppula was here. It goes on and on and on. I think (San Jose's) Dany Heatley was here. We've had some dynamic players come through this tournament. Every year seven 7 to 10 players are playing in the NHL by the end of that year. I would say to you, the same is going to happen again this year."

Apparently the Rangers need to give him a welcoming package of a camera that wasn't built 10 years ago

Everything after the 1st line.

I'd love to see Horak- Werek- Thomas.

I know Yogan was a 4th round pick, but the guy has a lot of offensive potential. He deserves to be playing top minutes. He was considered a 1st round pick for awhile.

That line would be STACKED. Werek and Thomas both have the skills to make Horak look like St. Louis.

That picture of them on the plane, all suited up and the one guy looks like he's checking his email, they look like corporate businessmen.... Yet most of these guys aren't even old enough to order a beer in the U.S....

Horak was very good last year. He ended up centering our top line. Maybe he'd make them look better

Would someone be so kind as to post the line combos?
