Burke is collecting goalies, for some reason. He's know they aren't currency, right?

What the heck. Hope this doesn't mean Reimer is on the outs..... On the plus side, this will piss off Philly fans!

Nice. Just now we've got three goalies on the Marlies, all of whom they presumably want to give lots of ice time.

Maybe Reimer will be moved, but it wouldn't really make a lot of sense. Good prospect, but still totally unproven, so you don't get much value out of him.

Suprised these goalies are signing with the Leafs. There isn't the opportunity like when Gustavsson signed last year. Either way, Burke is adding a lot of young depth to the goaltending position.

burke is playing his cards very smartly with this signing and rynnas.

The thing is, you have to expect Giggy to be gone after next year, which opens the backup spot up with the Leafs. The only way I see Giggy back is if The Monster struggles all year and Giggy is amazing. But for next year, yes I agree 3 goalies right now looking for the 2 spots with the Marlies. Maybe Burke has a deal with the Ducks to let a goalie play with their new farm team? Like the way he helped them last year?

In the crease?

Besides, it's not like he can't find an AHL team other than the Marlies to stash one. Kolzig was awesome for the Amerks in a Calder Cup run years ago... but was still Caps property.

So what does the Leafs' goalie depth look like?

1) J.S. Giguere

2) Jonas Gustavsson

3) James Reimer

4) Ben Scrivens

5) Jonas Rynnas

Does that look right?

Yup. That's damn good. I'm shocked Burke has got Gustavsson/Rynnas/Scrivens all in the last year.

I'm not really worried about it. You know, we need a real goalie right now.

What, do these goalies WANT to play in the AHL for the next few seasons?

This goalie's stats are incredible. Does anyone know if it is because of the team playing in front of him, or was he the team himself? If my second idea is the right one, I'm surprised noboby signed him before...

Anyway, hard to say it, but nice move for the Leafs.

Not really.

It'll be interesting to watch how he develops.

They probably didn't have offers to get jobs in the NHL right away, and the Leafs have Allaire, which gives them an advantage over other teams. Also, beyond next season, the Leafs goaltending situation is wide open. Giggy won't be re-signed.

They would rather play in the AHL than the NCAA.

one of scrivens or rynnas will probably spend time in the echl or with another team, man, stealing allaire from anaheim was a great move

Never hurts building assets. I think the way he treated Bryzgalov is now paying dividends. BB is leveraging the teachings of Allaire. Best case for the Leafs is that they all develop and he is able to trade them in the future for other assets. No risk signing. Good move. But where are they all going to get minutes?

You must have missed the 2 goalies 1 net rule coming for the 2010-2011 season.

reimer, rynnas and scrivens all need time before they can step up to the big league.

giguere and jonas will be the 1-2 and split 50/50 for the leafs next season until burke see's if jonas will/can be the number 1 for the future.

giguere only has 1 year left so it makes a lot of sense to stock pile.
