The Official Frolov Poll of Irony and Agony

Which would be the most ironic and yet painful place for Frolov to sign in the offseason?

Montreal is already at 45 million and they have 14 RFA's including Price AND Halak. Their GM will need to concentrate on just staying under the cap with what he already has much less signing free agents. Detroit sits at around 40, their set to lose Bertuzzi, Holmstrom and Maltby up front and Lidstrom is a UFA. If Nick re-signs I'd guess it will be for 7-8 million, so they may not have Kovalchuk money afterall but they will have some Frolov dough to spend. The Ducks have Niedermayer, Selanne and Koivu all UFA's, sit around 36 million and the RFA's of note are Bobby Ryan and Wisniewske who should get nice raises. That 2nd line of Blake-Marchant-Lupul needs a giant upgrade, don't think they can afford Frolov with Jason Blake already on board. They will need to focus on a 2nd line center and some defensemen.

Your analysis is much appreciated. That said you kind of killed my poll.

I've always had this strange feeling that Frolov would end up in a Red Wings uniform.

I forgot about Pittsburgh. The Penguins sit at 45 million dollars. They have something I've never seen before-7 UFA defensemen including Sergei Gonchar. Guerin, Fedotenko, Cooke and Poni all UFA's up front. Something has to give in Pittsburgh, is this the suumer they trade Malkin? They need wingers so Frolov is an option.

It wouldn't be painful to see Frolov in Montreal, as I'd be happy for both Cammy and Fro.
They always seemed to have chemistry when paired together. I sincerely doubt Frolov is re-signed. Too much history and no reason for most of it.

He has been misused and blamed for not doing more from the third line. He is a top six winger who TM turned into a third line puck possession grinder, but still wanted top six scoring from. You just can't have both.

Its been nice Alex, you were classy and did your best in the spot you were placed.

Thanks for being good with the fans. Good luck whereever you end up. Perhaps you'll be more appreciated on a new team.

Exactly. The Kings havent really had a center or another winger he meshes with outside of Cammy. Hes a pass first guy who needs to be paired with a shooter. He doesnt mesh with Kopitar because hes more of a pass first guy. He doesnt mesh with any of the net crashers because hes a pass first guy.

I've been saying this all year. Frolov and the Wings just seem to be a perfect match

He's gonna go to some non-playoff club desperate for scoring willing to pay. Not many good teams will want to pay him what he wants if he really is looking for 5M.
