Hickey, He'd look good with Greene on the 3rd defensive pairing. He can move the puck and would look good on the 2nd PP unit.

If the Kings don't sign a top 4 dman to play with Johnson I could see Hickey and Voynov making the squad out of camp

Thats not funny, not even as a joke.

I dont ever want to hear about or see that JACKASS in a KINGS JERSEY AGAIN.

It will be a SAD TESTAMENT to a lack of understanding and ability to evaluate hockey skills on the part of our management if he is given an invitation to camp.

I probably don't pray enough, but if thats what it takes to keep the JACKASS away, I'll start right now!

No need for a high priced FA defenseman

Scuderi-Doughty
Johnson-Voynov
O'Donnell/Martinez-Greene

Drewiske

You.... well I admire your honesty. I haven't really seen many of them either (with exception of a few preseason games) so I Voyted for Voynov because everyone else is and I don't want to be wrong.

Voynov smoked that guy.

I think a lot of you are missing the facts about the holes needing to be filled.

Sean O'Donnell - tough stay at home D man.

Randy Jones- Tall, lanky puck mover who can play the power play

Martinez, Voynov and Hickey could all replace Jones, but no one plays like O'Donnell except Teubert or Campbell and I highly doubt either make it, one guys has never even played in the AHL. Kings will need to replace OD in the UFA market.

This is Kinda Tough Butt....

I too voted for Slava V. and for others... One because as was noted Hickey has been injured so much when he should have been developing his pro game at the AHL level. So unless he is super musceled up and ready to fight for the puck I think he goes back to the AHL. Also the way Vancouver manhandled us all over the ice we need a waaaaaaaaaaay more grit in our blue line.

And for gods freaking sake the retreat must stop here! Lets have some Dee Men who step into their checks at the blue line! Watching Petey Harold and Randy and cause of the system alot of our guys retreating to the crease was killing me! As the Cah Nocks crushed us... That was just painful, I hope our coach makes himself watch these games over and over and over again... and see what is wrong with his system. Cause I think it got a bit exposed.

So we need guys who can keep our team upright and not bashed into the boards like crash test dummies! Tuebert comes to mind, he is a guy who wants all comers to respect the Logo I really love that about his mentality. Every guy on our team could learn alot from that!

You know, when discussing replacing OD, a young guy can replace what he does on the ice (and hopefully improve on that), but only a vet with a Cup can completely replace what OD has brought to the team.

I'm sure in considering whether or not to resign OD, that will be a major consideration for Lombardi. That leadership does not have to be replaced by. 6th dman, it could come from anywhere. Or maybe it isn't needed at all if DL feels the leadership in the room and specifically on D is strong enough.

Are Scuderi and Greene enough to provide the proper tutelage to whichever d prospect makes the jump to the NHL next?

I have no problem with O'Donnell coming back (I would prefer him back over an over-priced FA), but he needs to be limited to 60 games. He played 78 games last year and looked a step slower in the second half of the season.

Hickey could easily play around 20 game next year to get a taste of the NHL, especially early in the season. If he isn't ready to be a #6 defenseman, then he can be sent back to Manchester in December to work on his game. O'Donnell could then finish the last 50 games or so.

Randart brings up a good point, the Canucks D were punishing our guys in front of their net and not Hickey, Martinez, or Voynov will do that to anyone. Heck, Teubert got his ass handed when he tried that crap with Taylor Pyatt last pre-season.

Kings really do need Sean O'Donnell, 10 years ago. I don't care if it's Morris, Exelby, Sutton, or Mitchell...but someone along those lines.

Jones can be replaced by Voynov, Hickey, or Martinez.

for the record, that fight with biron was voynov's first fight ever. yeah, he won that one handily, but the kid just isn't all that inclined to be physical.

remember, he's just 20, and he's nowhere near as good as doughty.

he has a booming shot, that when it's actually close to the net, it's pretty potent.
he makes more mistakes than he should, given where he is time-wise in his development.

i don't think he's as ready as you think he is.

hickey's been hurt too often, so he's got a ways to go before he's ready.

muzzin has been pretty impressive so far, for a kid fresh out of juniors. good hands, good size, pretty smart with the puck.

it pains me to say this, but campbell has improved a great deal this year. he still sucks, but he has worked very hard - one of the best shot-blockers on the team - completely fearless. still don't understand why he gets first PK time...but as i understand it, everyone from the monarchs coaching staff to the boys in LA love him. i don't get it.

imo, martinez is probably the one who stays in LA after camp.

i love bagnall & piskula, but don't see them as ever making the big club.

mulllin & kolomatis are works in process. don't see them being ready for a while.

I don't think it'll be Voinov. It's either Martinez or Hickey and the dark horse is Campbell.

I think Hickey's got another year in Manchester. He's basically lost a year of pro development (and counting).

Voynov - he has paid his dues with 2 yrs in the AHL, time to see what he can do on the big team. We will need a puck handler, should be given an opportunity...after that it is up to him to perform.

Hickey - Needs a healthy yr in Manchester to continue his development.

Tuebert - Needs a year in the minors.

Martinez - Wasn't ready earlier this season and it showed.

There should be some good battles in camp next season, 1-2 slots will be open so put them on the ice and last man standing wins.

It will be interesting to see that happens with OD, love his game, just wish he had younger legs. I think he would make a great coach in the minors for the Kings, let him work some with all the young defensemen.

Provided DL doesn't go out and get a guy like Hamhuis, I'd like to see Voynov given a shot as our #5 defenseman, with O'Donnell and Drewiske splitting time as our #6. Martinez/Harrold can be the #7 defenseman.

Hickey needs to put together a full year of professional hockey.

LOL Campbell is a joke, he'll be an AHL player for the rest of his life, whereas Voynov and Hickey will be decent NHL players

I think you guys are giving way too much merit to young unproven guys. We just got eliminated by the Canucks and a lot of it had to do with our defense and we are about to lose two NHL'ers in OD and Jones and people want to mention Campbell and Martinez are there replacements. Ha.

Voynov is the only guy that even looks slightly ready. Muzzin is getting his first taste of the AHL and Hickey has played part of one season.

Lombardi is all about guys paying there dues, Johnson was a #3 overall pick and Doughty #2, besides that, no young D man has cracked the line up since Drewiske, and he was 24.
