Playoff Hero?

Who do you think will step up out of no where and become a force for us this year? In the recent past, guys like Andy Delmore have had an unusual knack of finding the net, RJ Umberger becoming a force, and Keith Primeau having a resurgence.

Haha. I literally wrote that this morning.

I'm calling Pronger.

Exactly. He's in the perfect position to pot a few goals, throw some big hits, and get under opponents' skin.

Plus, nobody riles up the Wachovia center quite like he does.

I also think Danny Briere is a nice bet for the underdog to hero. Guy really steps up in the playoffs, his knack for being in the right spot at the right time around the goal seems to work wonders.

I would just love to see Carter dominate a series, what does it take for this to happen?

If anyone knew, we would've seen it.

But I don't think being fresh off a broken foot is a good start.

Sideshow Scott!

I think Hartnell has the type of skills that can be huge in the playoffs if he just plays a simple game and doesn't try to do too much. Go to the net and hit everything that moves.

If Boosh plays well, not spectacular but well and everyone else plays the way the have then Hartnell getting it together can be the difference maker in a series.

Choice B is Powe. Even though I think he is a plumber and often overrated I could see him having a good series on the 4th line.

I don't think anyone in particular will stand out, but we'll have more goals from our D than our forwards. So my guess is the defense as a whole. Go Krajicek!

Powe tore up the playoffs last year with G and Danny B. I expect another big year for him.

Also, Chris, Pyorala has a broken shoulder/clavicle (sources vary at this point), so there's no way he's playing at all. It makes me question why the Flyers bothered calling him up compared to anyone else.

Cue the death stare

Not having a broken bone in his foot for starters.

I don't think it's very fair to expect too much of Carter.

I know. Doesn't really matter. He's on our playoff depth chart regardless of whether he plays or not.

I know, not really expecting it... but it would be nice to see him take a series over.

I actually think it's Hartnell.

1) He has the whole "nobody believes in me" thing going.
2) Playoff game is much more about mucking and grinding in the corners which should be his strengths.
3) Looked good against the NYR in the last 2 periods.
4) Wants to make up for his ****** season.
5) He's due.

If we have someone like that (which I doubt we will), I think it's him or Briere.

We all expect it from Pronger, so it wouldn't really be a surprise.

I hope it's Carle or Hartnell to up their trade value, but then again, it's a double-edged sword. If they have a good postseason Holmgren might want to keep them.

If Carcillo is on a line with Richards and Gagne, he'll be the one. I'm already calling for him to have a Max Talbot-type playoff run, if the Flyers get their crap together this post season.

i can see JVR putting up a few goals against NJ in the first series, but you gotta look to the guys with experience (ie Briere, Gagne, Pronger) against the colossus that is washington should there be a 2nd rd for the O&B. *commence homering* as for round 3 and the cup finals, a healthy carter may finally shine in the post-season spotlight.

i personally just can't see any one player making a huge difference for more than a round or two. there is too much talent on this team to even hope for a solitary stand-out performance. richards (for example) tearing it up while carter, gagne, briere, hartnell, giroux, jvr, pronger, and company are dormant is no good.... but what can you do?

I don't know who will come out of no where, but I think Richards will have a big playoffs.
