Really don't like the piping on the new whites. It looks even more out of place than it does on the blues. Too much silver. Maybe it just seems like that because of the picture quality, but silver is not one of the team colors and I don't like the use of it anywhere.

That having been said, it's still a nice jersey and a vast improvement over the slug.

The silver pit stains on the away jersey are misshapen. I've seen too many really good counterfeit jerseys to be able to ignore that discrepancy. It's starting to scream FAKE at me.

I have a few different, random thoughts on this year's set of jerseys:

- I wish there was no silver at all. But, given that decision not changing, I like the way the home & away jerseys look.

- I think both the home & away jerseys look sharp and are a huge upgrade over the slug-o-rific home and away jerseys we had last year.

- The 3rd jersey is disappointing to me. I don't like throwing the numbers on the original logo and the striping. If they are going retro, the striping should have looked like this:

But all in all, I am really happy that the slug is dead.

love those new roadies. I always felt the original white home jersey had the edge over the road blues just based on colors and contrast, so reverting back to something close to it makes me very happy, especially seeing the middle gold stripe. Hopefully soon, they'll eliminate all silver and piping (including on the blues), throw the shoulder patches back on (i like em better than not), and leave it forever...

and i'll put in a positive vote on the script 3rds. I love em actually. i think they're very classy looking. its a Sabres jersey, its a BUFFALO jersey, and it has a very old, vintage feel, especially with the odd stripes. i'll take this any day over the old red 3rds with "BUFFALO" splattered across your waistline...

...though now that i look at it closer, i could've done with the original waistline striping of yellow-blue-yellow, but i guess that doesn't work with larry's silver meddling...

When were darks used at home? I remember whites being the home jersey from 1970 - 2003, afterwhich the reversal took effect.

The sweaters -- to be officially unveiled Sept. 18 at the opening day of training camp -- are pictured in this post. While there have been numerous leaks and false drawings this summer, I have seen the 40th anniversary jersey and this is indeed it.

The new white jersey -- which, as previously written, will replace the "slug" -- is similar to the Sabres' original sweaters with a few modifications. The stripes at the bottom used to be gold-blue-gold (as seen in this Pat LaFontaine picture), but this new one -- which I hadn't seen until today's picture on Icethetics.info -- has blue-gold-blue. The outer stripes on the arms, shoulders and waist are also thinner than the original.

I do believe that we will be purchasing two of the away jerseys as soon as they become available. NICE.

Let me guess, one will have "Roy fan since '04" on the name plate . and the other will have "fan of Roy fan since '04, since '07" on the nameplate??

Pretty much from the inception of the NHL in 1917 until 1967, before the 1st expansion teams wore dark at home. An homage to this was done during the 75th anniversary season, when the home team wore dark the 2nd half of the season. Here are 2 example pics from the Sabres v Whalers on 3/29/1992

If I may, my company Dave and Adam's is preselling the jerseys now for $90. I will have them in stores/ready for pickup on September 24. I would have on Sept 18 too, but the Sabres Store gets 1 week exclusive selling period, as they had with the previous 3rd now home.

I wasn't sure I would like the name scheme, but it's defintely not ugly.
Much better than I feared.

Nice. I figured that you would immediately spring for a Ruff jersey, so that's a pleasant surprise!

PS: Go get NHL 11 and let's play a game soon over the 360
