Pens Staal out for rest of the playoffs (update: Listed Day to Day)

not sure if this was posted somewhere or not but it appears Staal is gone for the rest of the playoffs after having surgery last night to repair a severed tendon.

Ouch..that sucks for them and for Staal. You never want to see anybody get injured like that...

I guess we'll both have somewhat depleted teams..

Same injury Markov had at the beginning of the year.

I wish him a speedy recovery, hopefully as surprisingly fast as Markov's was!

Mixed emotions

edit: that injury is horrible, didn't realize it was a cut tendon

I love this guy(not in a gay way) and I think he's the most underrated player in the NHL. To me he was the edge for Pittsburgh to take us out, but now...
I'm sooooo happy with this news!

Injuries suck, but don't forget what's at stake.

too bad for staal, but they just may to bring up crosby and malkin's minutes.

We have to bring up hammer and MAB's minutes.

there in lies the difference with the injuries

sucks for both teams, far more for us. Would have preferred neither over both (not that I would want Staal injured, just saying it's not a catastrophe for the Pens in THIS round). I think it was PK's skate that cut him when they were tangled up (not intentionally obviously).

If Spacek comes back, he can largely take Markov's minutes, and PK can step up and take much of the rest. Keep M.A. Bergeron off the ice as much as friggin possible. He is a disaster.

Well if we can get Spacek in there...

edit: now RDS says Spacek wont play FML

Even if you are, best to keep it inside. Bad karma. Oh wait....we're screwed too.

LOL at "not in a gay way". I see that so often right after an effusive praise of a player. I think we can all assume unless otherwise stated that it's not meant in a gay way, although Cammy has been making me question things

also...most underrated player in the nhl: Marc-Andre Bergeron. People don't see the "little" things he does.

The Penguins will surely be a different team without their Selke nominee. This is a huge loss for them. I guess we can expect Talbot on that third line now.

Datsyuk is the most underrated player in the NHL.

We need Stall at 100% if we expect to win this series.

Oh noes, they only have three top-two draft picks left. What are they gonna do?

We need Markov more then they need Staal obviously therefore we're at the bigger disadvantage, but they have nobody that can step up in Staal's place like we do with Markov.. if we stay disciplined and be oppurtunistic like the Washington series, this series will be a long one

I had already used a sarcasm emoticon...

also, Datsyuk is not overrated. He's rated just perfectly.

hmmm....dunno. I think most of us think the opposite. PK is great and IF Spacek ever decides to take some tylenol, he'll be useful, but Markov is Markov and don't listen to the people bashing him - he is integral to this team. PK will have to be his replacement (and seems to be based on last game), but it will require one of the best rookie D performances in history.
