If it is in fact labyrinthitis then we won't be seeing him for a while. It's a ***** of a virus. Since it affects your inner ear it messes up your balance like crazy. When it gets really bad, you can hardly stand up let alone walk.

On Friday Pierre McGuire was on Ottawa radio (Team 1200) saying that he has an injury. He wouldn't say what the injury was out of respect for the player but that he didn't just have a virus.

Poor Spacek, hope he gets well soon. I'd never doubt his willing to help the team in the playoffs, so it must be a heck of a virus. Hope he recovers soon.

No matter how good your conditioning is, nobody's immune to falling ill. Craig Rivet had a bad case of pneumonia three years ago when we traded him to San Jose for Gorges and a 1st (Patches). Rivet's illness actually held up the trade for a couple of weeks.

I hope they are just speculating. If it's Vertigo, there's no standard time frame for how long he could be out.

I can't imagine playing hockey with a bad case of vertigo....especially at the NHL level. Spacek missed some time before the playoffs and then came back to play a few games and played well. If he does have vertigo, they must have had it moderately under control and then it must have worsened again.

He had shoulder surgery during the year and he's been out since then.

Has anyone seen Mara during the games? I'm curious if he's sporting his cool playoff beard.

If Spacek has a virus that is causing vertigo,I could picture that being potentialy career ending,if it were very serious. And even if its only pnumonia,it could still be serious enough to miss the rest of the play-offs. So are we allowed emergency call-ups of defensemen while way have spare forwards. Or is it only about the number of Players? I guess or choises would be Belle or Henry? Or maybe Weber?
Picture a Weber MAB pairing.

Ebola is highly contagous. If true, maybe Spacek could accidently wander into the Pen's dressing room.

Oh well, like it's been said... it's all gravy from here.

Missing 2 of your top 4 defenseman sucks though.

Vertigo could likely be a career ender. See: David Duval.
